Welcome to the bee! and Congrats on your engagement! take lots of breaks during planning - its needed! the engagement period is so magical - savor every moment of it.
Welcome!!! Congrats on your engagement and the best of luck to you with planning!
Welcome and congrats! I'm a newbee too, and I also just got engaged a few weeks ago and we are also shooting for fall 2012 (meeting with our dream venue Wednesday!) And I'm also in NY. Soooo we are kinda twins :D
Welcome! Congratulations on everything! Seems like you have it all under control! Remember to still have fun and breathe:)
@cait7lin: Congrats! I'm also newly engaged and looking at many of the same venues as you. Did you have to be or know a member to book at manursing or coveleigh? Also in terms of price, which seemed to be the most reasonable? I'm starting to learn that being from westchester means spending an arm and a leg if you don't want to be married in new ro!

I am new to Weddingbee and am excited to start my blogging. I have quickly learned that planning a wedding rivals a full time job, and since I already have a full time job, plus I am a part time student, this wedding planning should get interesting!
Here's what I've done so far...
I got engaged on June 2, 2011, surprised by a romantic dinner at home. I knew that the first planning task that needed to get done ASAP was choosing a venue. Even though we didn't want to get married until fall 2012, wedding venues fill up very quickly. Not to mention, it was right around that time when gay marriage was legalized in NYS, so I knew that the amount of weddings being held just increased by A LOT!
I started my search in Westchester County and lower CT. The venues I looked at were: Hollowbrook Golf Club, Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club, Whitby Castle, CV Rich Mansion, Salem Golf Club, Darien Country Club, Inn at Longwood, Brynwood Country Club, Coveleigh Club, Manursing Island Club and Wainwright House.
We ended up going with....Coveleigh Club and we couldn't be more excited! If anyone wants to know more about the other venues I chose, please feel free to ask. Coveleigh just had everything we wanted and the setting was beautiful.
So now I have a little over a year to continue the planning, which means I'm taking a bit of a break now to just enjoy my engagement.
Until next time!
