Weddingpaperdivas

posted 7 months ago in Beehive

I realize this is a site full of DIYers, but has anyone actually used Weddingpaperdivas for their wedding invites?

I have used them before, but for a shower invite, which was fine.  I just received a wedding sample and I have to say, I am not all that impressed with it.

Just wondering if anyone else has positive/negative feedback to share...

I didn't use them for invites, but I did use the for our STD's and loved them.  Did you see that they are now offering letterpress invitations, too?

I posted about them recently... I think the designs are gorgeous, but I wasn't impressed by the flat printing.  I wish they had been offering letterpress when I was looking!

I used them for STDs and honestly, wasn't impressed with the flat printing either. It was almost like they ran them through a home printer instead of offset printing them, but oh well.

Because of the quality, I ordered my invites and such from farfalla http://farfallawedding.com, because a) I wanted letterpress, and b)it was the cheapest I could find that still allowed for custom design (instead of having to pick from a selection of previous designs).

I **think**, but don't quote me, that farfalla has 20% off until the end of March.

Hmm, it's interesting to see other perspectives.  That's why I love Weddingbee!

To be honest, if I could do it all over again, I wouldn't spend the money I did on custom letterpress invitations -- I would have just bought the pink & green invites from WPD that I originally fell in love with.  I'm starting to think letterpress is seriously overrated, to be honest, but I know people love it and are all over it now (I got carried away with it myself, clearly), which is why I mentioned the Divas doing it.

Hi there! I posted a vendor review on them about a month ago- lots of feedback on this post for you to see as well.

http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/vendor-review-wedding-paper-divas

I've received so many compliments on our wedding invite- I think (and this is just my humble opinion) if you have oodles of money, then go letterpress.  But if you are a gal on a budget and would rather see that extra money go to a fancier dress, more booze or more bling- than wedding paper divas is the way to go.

There really is a style on there to suit anyone.  Great customer service and affordable.

Good luck with whatever you decide-

We got our STDs from WPD.  We liked them a lot, and everybody who got one also remarked on how nice they were.  I did notice that the color was not quite the same as the sample I had ordered.  This would have been a big deal if we were matching stationery, but we didn't love any of their invitations. (FI is all about the pocket-fold.)

While I am pretty seriousa about how things look, and also love letterpress, we never really considered spending the money for letterpress for the wedding.  Just too many invitations, and the fact is that the majority of them will end up in the garbage, and we can use the money elsewhere at the moment.  I have kept all the superwonderful samples that I just wasn't willing to spring for 100 of, and keep telling myself I will be having the world's most fabulous party invites and Christmas cards and thank you notes for ever more.

We also used WPD for our Save the date.  We ordered a sample and when it didn't come they sent another one.  Well, both samples showed up and the pink they used was totally different on the two samples - you couldn't have picked two more different color pinks! We were happy with the ultimate Save the date but the exact color wasn't critical - also got compliments on the save the date, but that is probably because we used a cute pic on them and people comment on those!

I used them for my invites... Overall I am very pleased.  For the price I couldn't have done better DIY or anywhere else.  The only thing I wish would have been different is the quality of the paper.  But invites weren't high on my priority list so, I am happy.  I am printing my own inserts.

Overall it's a good choice if you are trying to save some $ and time!

I used WPD for my STDs also.  The shipping was quick and the service was good, but about 15 of the cards arrived slightly smooshed on one corner.  I'm sure if I would have complained they would have sent replacements, but it wasn't worth my time.  The look of the cards are nice, but not fantastic.

this might be kind of random, but just wanted to comment on "letterpress is overrated" comment above -- i never thought i would say this, but i think that's spot on. you're right - most people toss these things and if you can use a tool like gocco, screenprinting, stamping, offset or digital printing, i would do it.

i am not only a graphic designer, but actually own my own letterpress, and i have to say that when i've done invites for various things, 99% of my family members and loved ones don't get it. they don't get it that I designed it myself and they don't get it that something is letterpressed and it's an expensive, fine process! it's not that i'm a poor designer (i think haha) it's just that paper and ink aren't important to them. it doesn't register and it doesn't have the same value that it holds for me.

this is the conclusion that i've come to on calligraphy as well.. i'm going to try to DIY and if that's not happening, it's laser printer baby.
