Our ceremony started at 4; our reception started at 5:30.  The whole shebang ended by 10.  Did you want to see a full day timeline?  Or just a reception timeline?

I felt like we had plenty of time.  🙂  We also had a small wedding (about 60 people) so that might have contributed.  Are you having a big wedding?

Our ceremony starts at 4.  Reception right after.  We’re doing photos before so we don’t miss out on the festivities.

Our reception dinner will start around 6:00, but there won’t be many people dancing so I’m imagining that if dancing starts around 8:00-ish we’ll be done around 10:00-10:30. Most of the guest will be older or have small families, so if the younger ones want to stick around I guess we’ll go party at the hotel?

(Copied and pasted from word)

All the girls met at the salon at 8 am, and were finished by 12, so my mom, my SIL and I went out to a leisurely lunch before heading over to the church.

CEREMONY TIMELINE

1:30 PM – Girls arrive at the church to get dressed.

2:15 PM – Guys arrive at the church to get ready.

2:30 PM – Flowers arrive at the church.

2:45 PM – Everyone has to be ready at this point to take formal pictures at the church.

3:00 PM – Formal pictures start.

3:30-3:45 PM – Formal pictures end.  At 3:45, all family members should start line lining up at the back of the church for the processional.  Bride and her parents will go into the bridal room so groom won’t see her.

4:00 PM – The ceremony begins!

4:30 PM – The ceremony ends.  Bride and groom will exit the church and go into the bridal room so all the guests can leave the sanctuary.  We’ll go back up to the altar in 10 minutes to finish up the formal pictures with family members.

4:45 PM – Formal pictures are over.  All family members can now go to the reception.  Bride and groom will stay behind to take a few more pictures of just them on the altar.

5:00 PM – Bride and groom will head out to reception venue for informal pictures on the beach.  We should have about an hour from the time we arrive at reception venue, until the time we are announced into the reception.

RECEPTION TIMELINE

5:30 PM – Reception begins.  Bar and cheese/fruit station open.  Bride and groom will be taking pictures on the beach.

6:10 PM – Announce that dinner will be served shortly and for guests to be seated.  Bride and groom will wait outside the doors to be announced.

6:15 PM – Announce the bride and groom.  (Donna will pick the entrance song).  Bride and groom will immediately do their first dance (Plain White T’s – “1, 2, 3, 4”).  When that is over, we will make a short welcome speech.

6:30 PM – Serve the first course.  We should have both our courses served at once so we can finish our meal first.

6:45 PM – Toasts begin.  The order should be:

  1. 1.      bride’s dad
  2. 2.      groom’s dad
  3. 3.      bride’s mom

I don’t think this should take more than 10 minutes, but our parents might decide to ramble.  As long as they’re not drunk, I think they can talk for as long as they want.

7:00 PM – The second course can be served to everyone.

7:15 PM –Bride and groom will get up while everyone else is still eating to go to each table and visit for a couple minutes with guests.

7:45 PM – Father/daughter and mother/son dance (Louie Armstrong – “What a Wonderful World”).  After this, the dance floor can be opened up for everyone else to start dancing.

8:30 PM – Announce the cake cutting.  Donna will play James Taylor – “How Sweet It Is.”

9:45 PM – Announce the last Dance (The Beatles – “Till there Was You”).

10:00 PM – Hopefully everyone will leave so we can clean-up!
