Throughout the wedding planning process I have learned so many things about my relatives. Two relatives in particular, who i have always considered close. One of them almost didn’t come to my wedding. It wasn’t until the entire family got on her case about it that she decided to come. This whole year with this relative had been stressful on me. I felt like I wasn’t important enough in her eyes.
The other relative has been unsupportive and selfish. She has not been very kind to my family, and really only cares about herself and her family.
I lost a friend in the process. She called me the other day and said she was sorry that she’d gone so long without talking with me (5+ months) and that she hoped I didn’t hate her for it.
Another out of town “friend” let it slip that she was in town at some point, but never told me about it. I feel like a friend would have let me know she was in town so we could meet up, even for half an hour for coffee. Apparently I wasn’t important enough.
I feel like I’ve been a pretty understanding bride. I have not been bridezilla about anything. In fact, I have even refrained from talking about the wedding with almost everyone because I didn’t want to lose friends. It happened anyway.
Did anyone else see people change during the wedding planning process? I still can’t believe so much has changed in the last year.
