First of all, the fact that your HCG was so high is a GREAT sign! Also, when they catch low progesterone this early it’s easy to treat so those are both very positive things ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been pregnant 3 times and on progesterone support with all 3 pregnancies due to low progesterone. The first 2 were miscarriages that occurred very early on and for those 2 pregnancies I was on progesterone pills (both orally and vaginal suppositories) called prometrium. With my current pregnancy my doctor switched me to progesterone in oil injections every 3 days at around 6 weeks and I firmly believe that is the reason that my little boy has stuck around so far. I’m now 21w2d pregnant. I was nervous about the injections at first but my husband administered them and we had no issues with it. There are TONS of videos online if you just google “PIO injections” that will give you tips. I strongly recommend sitting on a heating pad after so that the oil gets distributed. You’ll get so used to them that they’ll become routine ๐Ÿ™‚

I honestly think that with the shots you have a good chance of continuing this pregnancy but just make sure to be extra vigilant and if you have any spotting at all contact your doctor. It’s usually a sign of the progesterone dropping again and it’d be super easy to put you on an additional dose which would most likely fix the issue. Good luck and please feel free to PM me any questions that you ever have about this!!

@KitKatNYC:  I didn’t have the shot – I was on Prometrium pills, but I was in the same situation. I had my blood test at just about 5 weeks and my progesterone was low – 5.5. So my dr. put me on 200mg a day until I hit 12 weeks, last week. They say that by that time your placenta takes over the production of progesterone and the supplementation isn’t needed anymore. So far, so good. Good luck and I’m sure you will be fine!  ๐Ÿ™‚
