I am pretty sure I've stayed pretty steady. I eat smaller portions, but end up with an extra snack or two some days. I've been sick on an off, usually around lunch or dinner. I'm 9 weeks along.
I'm hoping to avoid having to deal with weight and have my dr just track it and tell me if I'm on target or not. I haven't always had teh best relationships with my weight, dieting and eating, and I want to avoid thinking about calories and pounds all the time when I should be enjoying this time growing my little one in the healthiest way possible.
I have heard that the first tri it is okay to not gain weight (or even loose weight)...the average is around 4lbs but it can be more OR less. I would talk to your Dr. but I'm sure you are okay. Have you been having morning sickness?
Not really morning sickness in terms of vomiting, but I've had bad indigestion that makes me feel gassy and airy all day (sometimes painfully) and completely takes away my appetite. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow so hopefully he'll say that it's ok.
I'm off to try to choke down some lunch! (sigh...)
@chicagowife
good luck with lunch! try some dry toast or crackers with peanut butter :)
I lost quite a bit of weight(10lbs) in the first 14 weeks or so with both of my girls (I am average weight 140lbs), but I was so sick and my metabolism sped up it seemed like I couldn't eat enough. i ate all the time and my doctor wasnt concerned. I gained 30lbs with my first and 19lbs with my second.
My aunt lost 23 pounds DURING her pregnancy. I think this is very rare, but she was pretty heavy to begin with and when she started eating healthier for the baby and stopped drinking alcohol she just lost a lot of weight. The baby (my lil cousin) came out quite plump at 10 pounds!
I wouldn't be too concerned, you're eating which is the important thing! And you only need about 300 calories or so more a day at this point. Weight gain differs so much from woman to woman that looking at any norm or chart just makes us worry!
I tried to keep up with the "average" amount of weight I was "supposed" to gain and it ended up biting me in the butt big time. I think as long as you are eating healthy and drinking enough water, you shouldn't worry about it. Everyone's body gains differently and at different times. I gained everything in the last trimester. But my SIL gained a lot in her second. So don't worry about what is normal for everyone, just worry about what is normal for you.
Im at 19 weeks and havent gained any weight yet. I'm of normal BMI and I feel like I'm eating like a horse but still nothing. I had my doctors appointment this morning and they said that it is normal and my baby is of perfect size.
Oh, I wouldn't even be concerned about it! You're only in week 8. You have plenty of time to gain that weight for the baby! :)
I lost a little weight in the first tri, starting around 6 weeks or so....I ended up gaining over my recommended weight gain, and I think most ppl catch up! I was SUPER hungry the last month of my pregnancy but had MS weeks 6-21. Baby boy ended up being a hefty 8-8 but neither of us ever had blood sugar issue...just hoss.
You're fine. I lost 15 my first trimester and gained it back in my second.
I think I lost the better part of 10 lbs in my first trimester. I didn't get back to my regular weight until after 20 weeks. Your body knows what to do and as long as you are eating healthily you'll be fine.

I think this is pretty normal but wanted to see if other bees had experienced the same thing. I've been really bloated so, while I've definitely been eating three meals a day, I'm not sure I've been eating more than usual. I'm basically one pound heavier (OK, 0.8 heavier) than I was when I found out I was pregnant....
