We are going on our first family week long vacation with our 18 month old. Besides the basics (clothes, toys, pack and play, diapers, etc.) what do you find beneficial to bring? Is there something that you have thought “Wow- what a lifesaver that was!”???

Depends on where you are going, definately sun screen to bug spray. Books, to the childs favorite toy/blanket.
Probably bring any meds if case of upset tummy or start to get the molars (my son who is 21 months old is getting his 2 year molars already and AGH!)

I agree with the other person.. Make sure to bring sunscreen, bring some infant tylenol, just in case. Bring their favorite blanket or toy. Pack some snacks they really like, sometimes it is easier to have them on hand. I pack dvd’s anda dvd player for the kids, to watch on long car rides and flight. I pack a tablet for them to play games. I pack coloring books and crayons, and some books to read. And, than the norm, like you said, clothes, toys, diapers and all..

We are going to a lake house in Virginia! It’s only a 3 hour car trip, so she should do ok. I didn’t think of bug spray, but that is now added to my list! Thank you! Please keep the suggestions coming!

A sun hat! Little kids don’t need/won’t wear sunglasses, but a hat will cover their eyes and their scalp.

Extra grocery bags. You never know when you will need to bag up something wet or poopy.
