I love that he ”grounds” me. Being 9 years older than me, he already went through a lot of anxieties, at my age, that I’m experiencing and struggling with right now (will I have a good job ? will people like me ? Am I at the right place right now in my life ? Will I be able to buy a house one day ?) I tend to overreact to those questions and to become emotional when I think about it. Somehow, to see him being more secure in his life, more confident, soothes me and allows me to focuss more on my life NOW, and not to worry as much about the future. I feel like he always has the right word of wisdom to tell me when I feel insecure about the future. And it makes me feel a lot more confident about myself. When I met him, I was a ”young woman”, and with him I’m becoming more and more ”a woman”.

@NauticalDisaster I have to agree with you about the “grounding”. My FI is 4 years older than me, is very calm, and very level headed. I can be emotional, rash, and nervous/unsure due to anxiety 🙂

I’d also say my FI’s sense of humor!

He never fails to make me laugh. It’s what first attracted me to him. Whether it’s a witty remark or a little jig he can always cheer me up.

@PacificMrs:  I love that you can plop her down in any situation and she charms the room. This has led to a loooot more relaxing on my part about new things …. like pp I’m the anxious half of this couple 😉

I love his commitment to his principles and beliefs. I’m the type to easily compromise and change myself to fit in with whoever I happen to be hanging with. While I think some flexibility is important, I admire and strive to be a person that lives a very principled life. Seeing that in him inspires and reminds me to keep working for that.

I love how gentle and tender he is with me. He’s my calm and safe place to land.

@NauticalDisaster:  @classical_wolf:  I feel the same way and my SO is 1.5 years younger than me, which means we’re at similar stages in life. Yet, his calm nature, levelheadedness, and quiet confidence are things that help me feel anchored, grounded, and more at peace.

I’m pretty much the opposite–very emotional–so we balance each other in that way.

My FH is from a different country, and has been to more places around the world than I have. I love that he is always teaching me new things about his culture that I did not know before, or things about places that he’s been to.

Physical = His blue/green eyes.

Non-physical = His ability to make me laugh even when I’m in the world’s worst mood, and his genuine, kind heart.  He puts me first above everyone and everything.

His ambition. DH is so driven to succeed, as well as to continue to learn and develop as a person, both personally and professionally. His ambition and drive has encouraged me to work towards being a better person, as well. I have felt nothing but support as I work on my Master’s degree and advance in my career. He’s like a coach on the sidelines cheering me on and giving me wonderful advice.

Too many things to count… but since this is a “weekend” thread… I’m going to nominate my FH making me pikelets in bed, every Sunday morning 😀  Admittedly they’re “shaker” ones but I don’t care at all, they’re brought to me in bed with all sorts of yummy toppings… it’s become one of our favourite weekly traditions 🙂

He is very fmily oriented. My family isn’t very tight knit, but his is, and I just love how much he cares for every member of his family. It makes me really excited for the day that I can see him be a father, I know he will be amazing.
