For Wisconsin… check out Lake Geneva! Or if you’re up for a drive… Door County is beautiful!

How about the Dells? Funny story – my cousin had a friend in from Chicago, and when we talked about hitting the dells on weekends with our parents growing up her response was “People from Wisconsin go there?” Ha!
There are tons of hotels, and I bet you could get a good deal at any of them, since the tourist season is over, and there are many places to stay along Lake Delton or other bodies of water. You will definitely be able to stay under your $300/night limit without any trouble at all.
As for food, there are lots of yummy places. For casual dining, I really like High Rock Cafe, which is downtown. If you want to go fancy, Kaminski Brothers Chophouse is delicious, or if you’re looking for some good midwestern supper clubness, there’s Ishnala, which also happens to have an amazing view.
My favorite place ever to hike is Devil’s Lake which is in Baraboo, WI – about a 20 minute drive from the Dells. It’s a beautiful lake with awesome high bluff views and they have both very easy and kind of challenging trails.
You said you don’t drink beer, but do you do wine? There’s an award winning winery on the way to the Dells if you take Highway 12 – Wollersheim Winery (alternately, probably 30-35 min drive from the Dells; same road you’d take to go to Devil’s Lake!). Totally worth the visit to take their tour and get to sample some yumminess.
Let me know if you have any questions!
