It's that time again! I'm guessing we have a lot of new members in the hive this week. Time to introduce yourself and let us know what you are all about.
I'm Mrs. DG, married in July and one of the Weddingbee hostesses. A couple of weeks ago I announced that my groom and I are going to be having a baby girl in May. Otherwise, we are busy with home renovations and work these days! We had a rustic vintage wedding, and I can scarcely remember those warm days of summer! We are now about halfway through our Thank You notes and hope to have the rest done before the New Year!
Question of the week:
Do you do New Years resolutions? If you do, do you have one that you'd like to share with the hive?
Mine is easy since I don't do resolutions, but I am excited to hear what yours are!
Hi! I'm g8rgirl! Planning a March 12, 2011 wedding to my Gator man! I haven't been able to post much on here being so busy with school and the holidays, but I've gotten so many great ideas from the blogs, I figured I'd join in with other fellow brides to be and those who were married and could provide me with some great advice! :)
I haven't ever really done resolutions. I will continue on my healthy eating regimen and continue exercising- so I guess you could consider that my resolution.
welcome g8r!!! I'm crebre80, am always here and there and everywhere lol!! my resolution basically is to become healthier (i.e. lose weight like everyone else) and i want to rid myself of the uber potty mouth i have.
I must have missed this over the summer! I've been on WeddingBee for a while now, but am just getting active on the boards and such.
I'm soonerpsych, a college senior getting ready to graduate in May and get married in June. We're planning a formal wedding in Edmond, OK with 150 guests. Our "themes" would be roses and pearls, with lots of emphasis on my fav color - red. We're also adding in a lot of board game stuff, because we're huge fanatics.
I don't do resolutions either, but with the wedding only 6 months away now, I'm planning to lose about 5-10 pounds (can't go too far, gotta fit that dress!).
Welcome Gr8 and soonerpsych! :)
I'm Jessie and I'm the Hostess for the Beauty and Detroit boards. I got married in May to the coolest guy around. We have two (crazy) cats and love sports, movies, food and traveling.
I actually don't generally make NY resoultions. This year, although it's not an official resolution, I'd like to try to be better about remembering to take a multi-vitamin everyday.
Welcome Gr8 and soonerpsych!
I'm another one of the Hostesses around here (there's a little glitch, so that's why you don't see it under my avatar), so if you ever need anything just let me know!
Hi! Im Clare(bee) and just joined last week! Im currently a pharmaceutical rep but I have a degree in psychology and am trying to get back into social work! I am also in the process of planning to go back to school to get either a PsyD or an MA in Counseling. My FI and I live in Northern VA and have 2 cats and 1 dog, love to travel, watch jeopardy daily and spend time with friends.
The planning process was a headache until I decided to just let go! We are getting married next August in Georgia (where FI is from) at the lake we got engaged at! I am loving the weddingbee boards more than any other wedding site!
Welcome new Bees!!!
My new years resolution:
Hello!
I am new to weddingbee and you can call me hokie. I just got engaged 3 weeks ago and stumbled onto this website the other day and have already spent a lot of time entertaining myself. I decided that this could be a useful place for help with my wedding planning. I am 26 years old and live in the Philadelphia area. Right now I don't have many specifics planned for the wedding. I am currently in grad school and am about to finish my certification to teach elementary school. I don't typically stick to new years resolutions but this year would be to try and find a teaching job and to try my best to not get super stressed during wedding planning!
Hello everyone!!
My name is Stephromo, I am engaged and planning a summer wedding in Newport Beach. I am a huge cat lover!! I work with animals all day, So I can say I save lifes for a living!! I love anything that is creative and unique!! I must say I am obsessed with engagement rings and wedding bands, I dont know why but I love it!! I can look at them all day! I am glad to be apart of this website!! All the ladies are so nice and supportive!!
HI,
I am also new, got engaged in may 2009.
And my wedding is in February 13 2010.
I am now busy with all the decisions I have to make.
ANy help would really be apreciated.
welcome kighenda!!! what types of things do you need help with, if you post a question in any of the boards that you're looking for opinions or help with, any of us will be very happy to help you, give you advise, or steer you in the right direction...
welcome stephromo, hokie, clare and soonerpsych!! this is such an awesomely wonderful place!!!
welcome newbees!
so i never introduced myself even though i've been dropping in every now and then for awhile
my fiance and i got engaged in mid-october after about 3 1/2 years, and so far the planning for our august wedding's been going great, mostly because i've learned so much from the hive! i don't really have any new years resolutions because i know if i do, i won't stick to them, but fi and i are both trying to get in better shape, and i want to keep my priorities for the wedding planning straight, aka not get too stressed, keep it about both of us and our relationship, make sure our families feel involved but that it's still true to what we want, keep it fun...etc
Welcome and congratulations g8rgirl, soonerpsych, Clare(bee), hokie bee, Stephromo, kighenda, and finnaroo! You'll find that Wedding Bee is a great resource and there are so many supportive brides/wives (and even some grooms) on the site.
I've been here for 8 months, married the love of my life in August, and have been hanging around hoping I can help others and let them know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
As far as NY resolutions, I typically don't make them, but the next year will probably be super crazy, so I should probably make goals now.
Hi everyone!!!! Welcome New Bees! Glad you joined this awesome sight :)
I'm Rosie Girl, been here a while, but mostly venting in the waiting board! Until last week, when my big day came :) Our wedding is set for September 18, 2010.
No real resolutions for me. I never keep them anyways, so I figure why waste my time! We are building a house though, so I will be working on decorating that, and planning our wedding. I go to school also, surgical technology, so that keeps me pretty busy. Other than that, I'm here!
Hi! Today is my first day on the website. I just got engaged on Christmas Day! Yesterday was mine and my fiance's two year anniversary of being together. =)
Nice to "meet" all of you!
Welcome and congratulations Jessa!
I'm thrilled that so many people are anti-resolution like me. I always feel like such a slacker when all my friends are planning their elaborate New Years goals!
Hi y'all!
I'm Layla, I live in Atlanta, and I was married in November. We had a kooky rock and roll wedding in a 1920's theater, and we had a blast! I can't wait to get my video back, because I can barely remember a thing!
I make resolutions, but I stick to them - so I try not to go overboard. This year they are to learn american sign language, and pay off two debts! Exciting, I know. :P
Welcome new bees! :)
Hey All,
I've been stalking Wedding Bee for the last year and just got engaged in November. I'm knee deep in planning our September 2010 wedding. It's at a nature conservancy and is going to have a light literary theme (my FI and I are HUGE readers).
@Jessa - you have the same name as my best friend! It's always so weird to me when I find other people who have the same name as she does.
As for New Years resolutions . . . I don't make them. But, I do have a WEDDING resolution to drop 15 - 20 pounds, be healthier and pay of my credit card bill!
Just a quick tip, if you ever want to talk to an individual bee all you have to do is click on their name, it will take you to their page, and you click on "send a private message".
Welcome to all our new bee's! Weddingbee is a great place and I promise you will soon be addicted to this site. Congratulations on getting engaged. Happy wedding planning!
Hey all! Hazel920 here from Chicago, IL. Been lurking around WB for the past few months and am now officially addicted to it. =) Got engaged March 2009 after 8 yrs of dating! Wedding July 2011. I’m a lab rat (researcher) and love my job. Fiance is a teacher and a great guy, of course. Love your feedback, advice, blogs, boards. Like how WB is a positive place to be in.
New Year’s resolution: Lose a few lbs before the wedding, soak in everything about wedding planning (I only plan to get married once so might as well make the most of it), and dial down my “Type-A/OCD personality” a bit and “just chill”. =)
@ soonerpsych --- We have a lot in common. Psych was my major too, love roses, love pearls, and red is my fave color and will be one of the colors in my wedding! =)
Congrats Jessa! What an awesome Christmas present!!!
welcome everyone! it's so great to have new bees buzzing around! finnaroo--please tell me that is your pup in your profile pic!
Welcome newbees!
I'm MissAsB (though not a Miss anymore). My husband and I got married almost 7 months ago now in Colorado. We moved to Alabama over the summer for my husband's job. Right now, I am going to graduate school and trying to find a job.
I don't usually make resolutions. But I want to get back into shape. I was in great shape before my wedding but right now I've been having health problems so I haven't been able to work out much.
Hello Hive!
My FI and I got engaged last December, and I have been following weddingbee pretty much since then. But this warm, welcoming post inspired me to start speaking up a bit.
I am getting married next summer in Montana at my parents' home. We are planning a backyard ceremony and tented reception for about 300 people. Because it has been a logistical challenge--because we're 800 miles away, because we will have 300 guests, because we have to think about and provide for all the extra stuff required by tents (e.g., electricity, lighting, where the food will be prepared, all the plates, glasses, silverware, chairs, tables, dancefloor, etc.)--we're very thankful we have a relatively long engagement. It'll be nearly 20 months when we reach our big date. We have no "theme," just a montage of photos that inspire our decisions, but if I had to describe it in words, I would say it's something like city-meets-country-in-warm-minimalist-glowing-tent-draped-with-tulle. Featuring Aubergine, Blush, Chocolate, Chartreuse, and Ivory.
I guess I have a few of the typical resolutions--save more money, spend less money, work out more, etc.--but they're not really associated with the new year.
Welcome to all of the new bees! I look forward to getting to know all of you better!
Welcome New Bees!! It's great to see you all here!
My name's alishaneva - i've been on the boards for a while now but my activity fluctuates from week to week!
Cam (that's the boyfriend's name) asked me to marry him quite some time ago now but I still don't have that ring. We're planning on getting married May 14, 2011 so I'm hoping he gets on that proposal soon. In the meantime, though, I'll soak up everything the Bees have to say and continue to love the Weddingbee boards!
As far as New Years' Resolutions go - I plan to stop eating fast food and drinking soda. Those two are toughies for me! I ultimately want to lose weight but I want to run a 5k this year, as well!
Im limbobride and I've lingered for quite a while. We've had some planning stumbling blocks so I am just now getting active again on the boards and loving it. :O)
Hi everyone! I joined bee last year to help my sister plan her Oct 09 wedding and I just got engaged before Christmas. Super excited to get to participate for my own wedding now!
I'm meganrose and we're planning a wedding in May 2011. We're going to be planning a Chicago wedding from DC while my fiance looks for a new job.
My resolutions are:
1. get back into shape (miss being a college athlete)
2. pay off one credit card
3. save, save, save
Looking forward to 2010 and hearing about everyone's planning.
Welcome to all of the new ladies!
I'm Miss Scissors, or Scissors, or Sciz, or Skiz, the list seems to go on.
You also may see me being referred to as 50, and that's in reference to my old username before I became a BEE! (I was a little overly active pre-bee...hehe). I'm about 80 feet tall (6'3") and a lover of all things art and design related. I also am a big cat person, which Scissor Cat (Wednesday) can attest to.
My resolution is to up my workouts (even though I've been good about going 5-7 days a week!) and to make my diet a little more hardcore. And plan this whole wedding thing I've got going on. Oh, and blog every. Single. Day. Muahahaha. Hello, post-scheduler.
Hi - I've been reading the blog since last spring but only recently got myself a username! I'm getting married in April in NYC. We both live in New York and with about 3 and a half months left we're trying to finish up last minute details and work out some vendor issues.
I also do some corporate event planning in NY for work, so if anyone has any questions about contracts/vendors/timelines I can try to help!
Hi Bees...
I've been on here for a couple of weeks now. I'm Sarahsd : ) I got engaged at a waterfall in Kuaui in August and am getting married in San Diego next August (14th). My FI is a second-timer so I'm trying to make everything really special and involve him a lot - I think we're going to name and number our tables after players on the Chargers! I'm a high school teacher and planning has made me a terrible teacher! I am totally addicted to this site! I spend all of my prep period on here!
Megan rose you just got engaged like a week ago!!! Congratulations!
hi Clarebee! I did :) It was a complete surprise. We had talked about getting married, but never anything more than that we knew that was the direction we were heading.
Well congratulations!!! People always asked me "So, how does it feel to be engaged?" and Id be like ummm the same as it did before its just now I have a ring and a wedding to plan!!! My advice - dont dive into planning right away unless youre in a rush to get married! There will be so many questions asked and it will get frustrating so try to enjoy the time in the "were engaged!" phase!
*waves* Hi everyone! I found this site...gosh I don't even know how I found this site, probably on google. :) My FI and I got engaged the day before Thanksgiving and are getting married next October at my parents' house in the mountains of Tennessee. We live in Orlando, FL so we are planning from a distance. I've already gotten so many great ideas and inspiration from this site, I can't wait to get more!
I don't make resolutions, but have continuous goals all year long. One of my current goals is the Disney Princess Half-Marathon in March. It will be my second half-marathon race. :)
