Welcome new-bees and previous lurkers! This is the thread to introduce yourselves so that we can get to know you better.
Tell us what stage of wedding planning you are at and a little about yourself.
I won't bore you with anything about myself this week ;)
Bonus question of the week:What is your favorite (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) drink.
For me right now, the answer would have to be Jamba Juice Carribean Passion smoothie with energy boost! (Now I want one)!
i've introduced myself a billion times, but i'm always around, usually jabbering about something wedding related and well chandelier related lol!!!!!
favorite non-alcoholic drink honestly lately is water....
I like Buffalo Wild Wings' Bahama Mama, but only because my brother likes to make fun of my behavior from the time I had it last!!
Welcome to our newbees!!
Ironically, I don't think I've introduced myself on one these! What a bad bee I've been...
I'm an island girl in love with an industry (movie-industry) guy, so we're planning a Catholic/Disney wedding in June & a Hawaii reception in December. I'm super in LOVE with WB & all the supportive, energetic bees here.
Can't wait to get to know you newbees!
Favorite drink: Harney & Sons' Hot Cinnamon Spice Tea - yummy black tea that is sooo flavorful it requires no sweetener. mmm...
Mmmm my favorite drink is a blue margarita!!! (something blue for our drink menu at the reception)
Got engaged to my hunny of just over a year Dec 13th, the wedding will be an outdoor affair (with camping accomadations for our overnight guests at the ceremony/reception venue)
So lets all hope for fantastic dry weather on June 25th 2011!
Just started planning, really, but I have a lot done and a lot of projects to look forward to in the summer!
Loooove this website, so glad my FSIL gave me the link!
Welcome tarahartman- I was an outdoor wedding girl myself! Many of our guests camped :)
Ms. Pascua- I'm glad to get the official introduction, though I feel like I know you already!
I've been here for about a month i guess but I don't suppose I've introduced myself.
Though we've recently reset our wedding date to 1-1-11 we've been down this road before and postponed(family pressure on me). It's hard for me to make our date official as I'm paranoid about it, so only family and the bridal party know at this point. So basically I have more figured out then the average bride who just set her date. Our colors are Navy and Pink (hence my avatar) and we're honoring our Scottish/Irish heritage with him wearing a kilt, a wishing pool, and handfasting.
I'm a 21 student to be, after recieving my dad's GI bill I will resume my college. I plan on going for a bachlors in pre-vet which will lead me to vet school. I still live with my parents, and I help with my grandmother who is begining the last stage of Alzhiemers.
Fiance and I have a business together that we started over a year ago. FI is 25. The most interesting thing about "us" is the size difference. I'm 4ft 8/9 (dunno) and he is 6ft 2in so I happen to look about 15 and he looks about 30, so I'm constantly asked about "my dad" and he about "his daughter". Imagine the looks we get when we display some PDA. ;) We have been together 4yrs in Feb and engaged for 3 once again in Feb. The 2nd most intresting thing about us: he's taking my last name
My favorite food is Mexican and favortie non-alchy drink is IBC Root Beer. My favorite past time aside from wedding planning (I'm a wedding junkie) is to be with my dogs, spend time with FI, and reading. I'm the proud parent of many animals but FI and I have 2 of our own Daisy (husky mix, 1yr old) and Georgia (chocolate lab, 15wks). They both live with me.
Welcome to any new-bees!
Getting married on Sept. 25, 2010 and have been engaged for almost one year.
My favorite drinks are water or a glass of red wine (couldn't pick just one)!
Hello All! I have recently become obsessed with weddingbee just this week! We are getting married August 13th and have been engaged 7 months...dating for 7 years! :) Originally we planned on having our wedding in 2011 but decided that was too long...so 4 weeks ago the major planning began. So far I am a DIY bride but I am quickly finding out how much goes into wedding planning. And to answer the question... I love a good glass of red wine.
I actually signed up a few weeks ago, but never posted in a thread like this yet nor formally introduced myself
I was always embarrassed to let any of you girls know that I wasn't even engaged yet so that's why I been keeping kind of low key the first couple weeks, but then realized a lot of you were not engaged yet. So.....
Currently NOT engaged, yet we did agree on a date...well I came up with it and he just nodded his head. It's not a for sure thing thoug, but I would like to get most of my planning out of the way since I want a winter wedding. Basically if he proposes to me in lets say..August, I wont scramble trying to get everying planned with in just a few months. We have been dating for 4 yrs now. Sooooooooo READY to get married already.
I found this site by google images. Anytime I saw a great picture it was always linked to this site. I figured...might as well sign up and just have access to all the great ideas whenever!
I work at U.S. Bank for the H.A.M.P. program which is government sponsered so if anyone ever needs advice on modifying your home loan Im more than welcome to help out.
Thanks to everyone for being soooo fantastic so far! And I can't wait until I can post a pic of my ring!
Hello!
I've been a lurker for quite a while but thought it was finally time to sign up and introduce myself :D
My boy and I have been together since August 2004 when I was 18 and he was 19. We have been living together since the end of 2004. We are not yet officially engaged (although the ring is hidden SOMEWHERE in the house...no idea where though and it is taking all of my strength NOT to search for it- funny thing is that I actually signed for the package when it arrived!). We have already started planning our wedding though which is going to be 2nd April 2011, which is autumn over here is Australia. We are planning a laid back and super chilled out wedding- no formal sit down meals, etc., just lots of awesome finger food, alcohol, dancing and fun!
I am pretty laid back and 'go with the flow'. I love all things bright pink and this will most definitely be a HUGE colour included in the day, along with orange and lime green.
My favourite drinks are COCKTAILS! Oh and Advocaat and lemonade....and rasberry vodka and coke. Ok I just realised I could make a huge list right here but I will spare you all the list (partly because it make me realise how much of an alco I am) :D
I will end my mini-essay here and I look forward to sharing my ring, planning, ups and downs with you all!
Hi! I just joined a couple of days ago and I wished that I had found this site long ago! I'm less than 2mos away from my wedding so I've already chosen the venue, food, cake, photographer, dj, dress, bm dresses, tuxes, etc etc. I just sent the invites a couple of weeks ago and I'm already getting rsvps back which is exciting!!!! I just have little things left to do like get my bm gifts, my jewelry, put together the seating chart once all the rsvps are in... and some other stuff I can't think of. OH and we have to PAY FOR everything!!haha! And I'm working on losing a couple lbs and toning up my body so i'll look fab in my dress! I LOVE this site there are so many amazing helpful ladies and fun ideas. I always want to talk about my wedding and other weddings 24/7 and here I feel like it's actually ok! I don't feel like i'm annoying anyone with tiny details because everyone is just as wedding crazy as me!
My favorite non-alcoholic drink is chocolate milk! My favorite alcoholic drink is malibu rum with pineapple juice.. yummy!
Hi Ladies!
I'm Sarah and I'm 22 and from the UK, have been lurking for a few weeks but have now bitten the bullet and joined. Like Wendy I'm also not officially engaged but OH and I have set a date for December this year and have started planning- neither of our parents were ever engaged even at all so I'm not overly fussed about a long engagement, that said would like some bling at some point :-D
My OH is a musician in the royal marines so we've been long distance for a year and half and I'm hoping to move to be with him in July, I have a job interview TOMORROW (I'm on here to put off preparing! hehe) which should make that possible!
We're hoping to get married in Norfolk (thats the east coast of the UK) in December, but the parents are being fairly stressy as the UK ground to a halt with snow this year after christmas, and we're aiming for the 28th or 29th!! So fingers crossed for a milder winter!
My favourite drink is a bison grass Mojito- yum yum yum.
Welcome abartz, Wendy, Elisa, Bella, & Sarah!
@Bella: Yes! WB is the PERFECT place to wax poetic all day about your wedding...I LOVE it here!
@sarahbean: I love Mojitos, too, but I've never heard of a bison grass Mojito...what is it?
Bison grass mojitos are amazing; they're made with a weird vodka from poland or russia which tastes like the smell of just cut grass in summer- sounds weird but tastes like springtime in a glass, which is just what I need in January!
I've been lurking for quite a while but I figured I'd introduce myself now.
The boy and I got engaged on Christmas day and are getting married at a botannical garden in Philadelphia in May 2011. We are having a low-key, rustic, vintagey wedding. We've done a lot of research but all we've done so far is book the venue. We're close to booking a caterer, though.
My favorite non-alcholic drink is Coke Zero. My favorite alcoholic drink is an extra dirty Ketel One martini or a nice, not-too-sweet sangria.
I've been lurking for awhile, but finally couldn't resist signing up any longer. I was never a girl who wanted the big wedding (and I would still happily elope) so it was hard to admit I love wedding blogs and actually felt like I had things to contribute! But here I am...planning my wedding for 150 people and going DIY crazy. My fiance and I have been together just over a year, engaged for 7 months and are getting hitched in May. Fast, I know, but we knew within the first month of dating that this was it for both of us so why waste time?
I'm happy to have found Weddingbee and such a great, supportive community!
oh--and my favorite drink (non-alky) is chocolate milk, favorite booze is a tasty margarita.
I am a little late to the party...I actually got married this past November, but I was an avid lurker here the entire year of planning. Soooo now it's a been little over two months and I just can't quit WB !
My favorite non-alcoholic drink would have to be Arnold Palmer 1/2&1/2 , and for alcohol I've been really digging old fashioneds...this is a direct result of watching lots of Mad Men lately
I love that lurkers have joined, even after the fact (looks at Delilah!)... I know what you mean ladyox about finally admitting my previously unknown love for all things wedding!
I'm with Delilah! I'm so glad I'm not the only one who signed up after marriage. DH and I got married this past October. I lurked during my planning but I sooo wish I'd signed up for WB sooner!!!
Favorite drink would be...Vodka, soda water and lemonade...ummmm!
Hi! I have been a major lurker for over a month! I figured it was time to say....something! Hello all!
I current am planning a wedding at a Bed and Breakfast Farm in Maine with my FI. So we have the venue and food, now I need the details. I also have been inspired to attempt several DIY wedding projects (thank you bees!), we'll see how it goes.
As far as a favorite drink, I think I would go with a good glass o'wine, red preferably
, but I loves me some juice, all kinds!
Hello Hive!
I'm Breezy! We are currently planning our 10-10-10 wedding in Napa Valley, CA. I have been reading the board since our engagement in November 2008.
My fiance and I presently live in Guam, where I am a professional dancer in the Cirque-esque show, Dream. I have recently applied to be a blogger and look forward to the opportunity to share my experience with you all!
You would think that living on a tropical island would lead me to drinking Pina Coladas all day, but we're chilled pinot grigio with a splash-of-spritzer drinkers!
Hi Hive!
I've been lurking for quite some time now, I feel like I know most of you!
We are also planning our October 2010 wedding in the Napa Valley! I live in Chicago and my FI is in Los Angeles. After 6 years together we finally decided to tie the knot. Being in a long distance relationship along with long distance wedding planning has it's challenges- but we are so excited to get married. Plans include red shoes, fairy wings for the flower girls and a lot of laughter.
Fave drink- a refreshing Blue Moon beer with a slice of lemon.
Hi Everyone!
Though my account was created back in January of last year, I'm active on it as of lately. I just got engaged on January 20, 2010 to the BEST man in the whole world (: He's currently active duty in the US Navy, so planning anything ahead of time is a bit tricky thanks to lurking deployments. We have a one-year old German Shepherd and she's our baby <3
We have not set a date yet but are aiming for the summer of '11, perhaps somewhere near the coast. As of now we are debating between Santa Barbara and San Diego. I've got my heart set on San Diego Naval Base in Coronado Island, but the FH prefers Santa Barbara's winery/scenic venues better. Only time will tell where we'll end up (:
Fh's favorite drink is a corona with lime and my favorite drink would have to be Midori Sour ;)
HI everyone
Just joined, hope you do not mind a lost male bee entering the hive. I found the site while searching for information on Bridesmaids, a wonderful friend of mine who I have know for a long time, supprised me by asking me to be one of her 3 bridesmaids at her wedding in Sept this year
.
Proberbly will have some strange questions to ask, as this is all new to me. Still unsure if I will agree, but would do anything to make her wedding day the best.
favorite drinks : cold Aussie beer. as for spirts Vodka and coke with a slice of lemon.
I'm with you on the wine- Maine!
Breezy- sounds like you have the coolest job ever. I want to hear more!
Meerkat- Hurray for not lurking anymore :)
Muffins- good to have you back
and Bridesmaid Pete- we love having guys here. It's always great to get the male perspective :)
Mrs. DG- Thank you! I do have a very cool job when i stop to think about it. Most of the time we are wrapped up in our little bubble of a show and forget how awesome it really is!
We have 2 contortionists, 8 acrobats, 5 dancers, an amazing illusionist, and myself. I am the principal female performer as well as the magic assistant. I can levitate 30 feet in the air, turn into both a tiger and a red harley motorcycle, and I appear out of thin air at the top of the show in an illusion we affectionally call 'insta-breezy'.
We opened this show almost 2 years ago and I'm looking very much forward to the end of my contract in May. Just in time for serious wedding planning mode! And my poor back needs a rest. Fitting in tight spaces for 2 years makes me my chiropractor's favorite patient! :)
Hello fellow bees!!!
I'm so excited about this website, I can't even begin to explain!
My wonderful fiance and I got engaged December 23, 2009 and are getting married July 24, 2010!! A little under 6 months to go!!
We are getting married in southern California (where my family lives) but we (my fiance and I) live in Texas. I can't tell you how difficult it is planning a wedding from 1600 miles away! Thankfully I have a great support system on both ends and everything is coming along smoothly! Our venue is officially set at an Art Museum and the next big thing to do is find my dress next month in California! What an exciting time!
I'm really big on DIY projects and love unique ideas. I love that my man likes to be involved in all of the wedding plans... he's made this easy on me!
My favorite alcoholic drink would have to be a mojito!! YUM!! But @Mrs. DG, I completely agree on the Caribbean Passion drink from Jamba Juice!!
<3
Hi! I'm new too...I got engaged this past NYE and am attempting to set a date still, hopefully we'll pull it off this year! I found weddingbee while helping plan my sister's wedding over a year ago, so I've been lurking for a little bit and have some ideas about planning already. But just wanted to say hi!
And I love a good margarita, not slushy, on the rocks with salt. Yum.
Hi Hive, I've been a member for almost a month and didn't even know a thread like this existed. I've become obsessed with WeddingBee, in fact, probably a little less productive at work since I found it :)
Now for an introduction - My FI and I had been together almost a year and a half when we got engaged on 9/10/09 (we met at work, he proposed at the spot where we first met - a la the lyrics in "Then" by Brad Paisley which is now our 1st dance song). We're getting married 9/11/10. Yes - little weird day but we're getting married outdoors at the coast (where he's from and my family had a summer house) and needed an August/September day that didn't conflict with college football. I've got all the big stuff planned so far - venue (outdoor ceremony, reception in a 100 year old barn), food (BBQ), Band (live Country Music), Photographer, Dress...still working on bridesmaid dresses, guys attire, flowers (I've at least booked her), rentals and ceremony decorations. We’re also paying for the entire thing ourselves on a small budget so I'm certainly going to be looking to the hive for DIY ideas especially as I plan out all the ceremony/reception ideas.
Fave drink - definitely a large Margarita on the rocks with salt or a really good IPA
Previous lurker here!
FI and I are planning a 10-10-10 wedding in the Berkshires. We're young and poor and so I am very into DIY and bargain shopping!
Fave drink is hands down a nice strong margarita. Non-alcoholic, I'd have to say root beer.
Thanks for the welcome!
Hi all! I've been reading weddingbee since the fall but just decided to register this week... My sister introduced me to the site, she's getting married in August & was always talking about ideas she found here but no one could relate. She asked me to add the bee to my daily blog readings and now I can't get enough!
I've been dating my SO for just over 7 years. We've lived together for about 6 years & have 2 cats. There's a million reasons I could give for why we're not engaged (money being #1) but mostly I think he wasn't ready. Recently the topic has come up more and more without the slightest freak out, so who knows?!?!? Mostly I'd like the ring to show off at my sister's wedding so I'm not the loser older single sister...
Even though I'm not engaged I am MOH in 2 weddings with year & was just a bridesmaid back in November! Weddingbee has been so helpful with planning!
I'm pretty excited to be a part of this great group! I've already received a very warm welcome :-)
I just recently found this site, but absolutely LOVE it. It has come up in almost all of my searches for wedding related information, especially DIY stuff.
We are getting married on June 25, 2011 (quite a ways away it seems right now), but I'm a bit OCD about anything wedding. I love arts and crafts projects, and we have a VERY tight budget, so we are doing as much DIY as we can for this wedding! Right now I am getting ideas more than anything else, but plan to start some of the projects this spring/summer as I know it will be a LOT of work!
I can't wait to get started, and look forward to all of the great ideas and advice I already know I will be getting from this site!
Hi all,
I've been reading all the great posts from everyone and getting ideas. I am getting married in April and am really excited.
my favorite drink is Mojito. =)
Hi New Bees!!
Welcome to WB. You'll love it here. Prepare to be addicted and no amount of rehab will cure you...ha ha. Just kidding! But not really....
My fav alcoholic drink is either: hypnotiq & sprite or xrated and sprite
My fav nonalcoholic drink: mountain dew
LF- please don't think of yourself as the loser older sister! Both of my younger sisters (1 of whom is 11 years younger than me) got married way before I did... I try to think of it as aging a fine wine :)
I see there are lots of margarita drinkers here! I have a blender now, and I'm not afraid to use it! (though I prefer rocks myself)
Well I have been a lurker for the past couple of weeks...with all this snow and being stuck inside I decided it was time to introduce myself.
Met the BF is college ( i lived next door and become good friends with his man crush) and we both HATED eachother. Time goes by we don't really give eachother much thought.... we 'remet'( the whole saw eachother across the room and it was a done deal scenario) a couple days before New Years '09 and celebrated the New Year with friends. We pissed a lot of people of and startd dating a few days after. We did LDR for a couple Months ( FL to DC) and we decided to move to NoVa together. We couldn't be happier, things went a little fast and people thought we had been a bit crazy but what does everyone else know?
Anywho, love reading all of your posts and wish happiness to you all!
Howdy! I'm getting married in October to my rough, tough, manly fiance (he may or may not bribe me to call him that). I graduated last May with bachelor's in secondary education but have decided not to teach this year. Our dream was always to have and outdoor wedding at FI's uncles in Northeastern Kansas but the weather in Kansas is as unpredictable as people say (maybe it's only us Kansans who say that?!) so we had to go with an indoor ceremony in our hometown. Our colors are black, various shades of aqua/teal blue, and bits of yellows for the flowers. We're a very traditional, conservative couple trying to hard to please everyone at our wedding. Oh and we have a constant debate over our honeymoon which is most likely going to be decided by either rock, paper, scissors or drawing from a cup.
We met in the most out of character way for both of us...he randomly stubbled across my facebook profile after I tagged a guy he went to high school with in some pictures. He read my profile and sent me a message. Me being the sarcastic person that I am decided to respond and mess with him a little. We ending up messaging back and forth and a couple weeks later he convinced me to meet him with my BFF in a wal-mart parking lot (don't judge...we're from relatively small Kansas town). Did I mention it was at 1 in the morning? Yeah..definitely not something I will recommend to our kids. In fact, very few people know the TRUE story of how we met...we just say through a mutual friend.
Favorite drink=strawberry lemonade.
Hi! ::waves::
I'm Al, a 24 year old Medical Student living in the Big Easy (New Orleans)! The Boy Toy (as I refer to him) is across the nation in So Cal. We met through a long incestuous line of family members (he is my sister's husband's sister's husband's "brother", don't worry, no one is actually blood related) We've been together for 5 years and recently got engaged this past December!
We are thinking the wedding date will be sometime between May,June,July of 2012 (i won't graduate until May of 2012 and will start Residency in July so the wedding has to happen sometime in there...or later, whatever ;) )
I found the 'Bee while googling Wedding blogs for my google-reader. And now I'm hoooooked! Also, wedding blogs>>>studying!
:D
