@eecuadrado:  It’s weird because people should have an easier time with weeks becuase once you start with months, people lose their head. Everyone thinks women are pregnant for 9 months instead of it actually being 10.

I’m 32 weeks so I tell people I am at the beginning of my 8th month. My MIL gets so confused by the months part because when she hears 8 months she thinks i have 1 month go to. I prefer to say weeks but when I do say months I’ll say “beginning of 8th or 7 1/2” for months I just take the number of weeks I am and divide it by 4. So for 24 weeks I’d say the beginning of my 6th month. But yes the rest of the world we are pregnant for nine WHOLE months =)

Take # of weeks and divide by 4.5 and you have your approximate months.  (of course Feb is a strange one…).  If you know your LMP or your adjusted LMP, you can also go by that.  For example, my date of conception is August 3rd, which makes my LMP July 20th (going back 14 days), so every 20th is a new month for me.  So right now I am 27 weeks and 2 days, but month wise I am 6 months and 1 week.

If you just divide by 4, you wind up being pregnant for 10 months which isn’t exactly accurate and it drove me nuts lol, because I always felt I should be further along than I actually was.  You are actually pregnant for 9 full months and 5 days-1 week depending which months you are pregnant through (assuming you go to full term, longer obviously if you are late).

@megz06:  even though 40 weeks is technically 10 months, doesn’t it actually work out to 9 ish because some months have 5 weeks in them? IE for me, I got pregnant beginning of Dec and am due middle of August, which isn’t 10 months of calendar time even though it is 40 weeks.

In any case, I think the conversion from weeks to months is confusing!

@Pink Asawa:  I have no idea, lol. When I count from date of my last missed period to the day I am supposed to give birth it is 10 months. I just say my pregnancy by weeks because months and trimesters are way too up in the air.

So you would be 5 months and 2 weeks. 2 days pregnant.  I’m counting by how much you have already completed, but saying you are in your 6th month is just fine :).   Unless someone is really anal (like me lol) they aren’t going to really notice.

@eecuadrado:  Aww *hugs* it’s all the same thing!  It’s just how you want to count it!  Basically you have a little less than 4 months to go right?  Guessing your EDD is about May 17th ish? Try to focus on what is left rather than how far your have gone?  That helps me!  Right now I am thinking, woohoo, less than 3 months to go!
