I bloat when I get my period. So even though technically I'm just retaining water, it makes my clothes fit more tightly, and it makes me feel awful.
I honestly haven't found anything that helps except exercising. And I'm not sure if that's just the endorphins kicking in or not. ;)
I gain about 5 pounds when I get my period due to bloating. I don't know of any solutions though. Sorry!
Yeah, I'm always about 3-5 lbs heavier during that time. It sucks.. nothing fits right, you feel like crap.. oh the joys of womanhood!
Im atleast 5 lbs heavier. Not to mention feeling icky because the week before I have uncontrollable cravings!
I gain about 2 lbs. and two inches sometimes of water weight. Major bloat. And what really sucks is I always crave salty food like chips and salsa or onion rings at the same time!
the cravings suck! I crave chocolate uncontrollably!!!! for almost a week before and like the first day of my period i can't stop eating it!
@Rosie Girl - I crave chocolate like that too!
I also bloat a good 3-5 lbs when on my period. My fiance and I weigh about the same, he's normally a few lbs heavier than me, but when it comes time for my period, our weights start to converge! Makes me feel like a cow....
It is a horrible feeling.. My pants feel so tight during that time and my lower abdomen is miserably puffy and crampy. UGH.
And it usually adds about 3 - 5 lbs.
OMG mine is more before I get my period but seriously I bloat so bad that I've had people (including my grandma) ask if I was/tell me I look preggers. Thanks, guys. It's called PMS bloat and it is a symptom of the fact that I am definitively NOT pregnant. So annoying.
Does anyone get tons of pain? I do :( I'm usually in bed the whole time unless I have to be somewhere...my back feels like its being sawed in half..does anyone take birthcontrol for their periods?
@chipmunk, I have really really bad pains during my period. I take vicodin, that's how bad it is. I have endometriosis, which is an underlying problem and causes really intense periods--lots of bleeding, swelling, major mood swings, and also pain. It's basically where your endometrial cells (which should stay in your uterus) sneak out and attach itself where it doesn't belong--your stomach lining, intestines, back muscles, etc, and cause scarring. When you get yor period, those cells activate and it causes pain. You should get it looked at--it's kind of common and if you're in that much pain there might be an underlying issue, even if it's not endo. Birth control helped me, but I still need the vicodin. Also, I'm on a low-inflammatory diet from a nutritionist and I noticed my last cycle was significantly easier.
I gain 1-3 pounds the week I have my period. I usually just try to exercise & know that it'll look like I lost more the next week
Is anyone afraid of this affecting their wedding day? I mean bloat something serious the week before my period; I'm talking 7lbs. It's like my body is completely different and I look like a cow. I stomach protudes no matter what. I hate it and I'm afraid of looking so gross on the big day but it's so far out I can't really plan the date around my period.
I have gained up to 7 pounds of water weight, but I have several extinuating circumstances surrounding it, too...
I bloat and feel so crappy when I first start and in the days leading up to it. I would say probably 3-4 pounds difference. It sucks majorly. Also I have really bad pains that keep me in bed (if at all possible) on the first day. Nothing really helps with the pain. :/
Anywhere from 3-10 pounds of bloating! Yuck! I try and drink lots of water during this time, but it doesn't always help with the bloating.
I don't notice any weight gain when I have my period! However, I do get mad cravings that are really hard to resist!
@Aubergold...have you ever thought about taking birthcontrol or are you on BC? If so you can just skip your placebo pills and keep going with a new pack...and problem solved. no period!
@Ms.Teddy is right! That's what I did for our wedding and it worked out perfectly...no period, no bloat!

I have been told that when a woman gets her period it affects her weight. I want to know your thoughts about this, is this going to really affect my weight?
