I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy, eat my normal diet (still ate all the things they tell you not too, not giving up my turkey sandwiches or soft serve ice cream) and I left the hospital in my jeans.  First and only right back to normal, but it did take a few days for the muffin top to settle.

I’m 34 weeks. So far I’ve gained about 27 pounds. My midwife wants me to stick with about 1 to 1.5 pounds every two weeks for the rest of the pregnancy, which would put me at 30 to 35 pounds for my pregnancy. Initially they told me I should be in the 20 to 25 pound range for weight gain because I’m tall with a large athletic build, but I’ve really just gained in the boobs and belly.

I initially ate a lot of carbs since they were easy to keep down. As I progressed, I had to eat smaller portions more often, and eventually started cutting the carbs and eating more fruits, veggies and a lot more protein.

I’m just coming to the end of my second trimester but I tried to keep my diet relatively similar to what it was before.  I don’t eat fast food or anything super greasy or fatty and we’re part of a CSA, so we eat fairly healthy whether pregnant or not, but I’m also not a person who never will eat anything unhealthy.  I made sure to take a daily multivitamen and increased my intake of leafy greens, but during the first trimester part of it is also just trying to get down some food that doesn’t make you want to vomit.  So that becomes tricky some weeks and I did feel bad when all I felt like was cereal, but luckily they have all those vitamin fortified cereals.  I did crave sugar and chocolate and I tried to keep those cravings a little more under wraps.  Sometimes I probably overindulged but ah well.  I just started my 26th week and I’m about +15 lbs, which is right in the range they tell you to be at this stage.
