So, we have a contract for white resin folding chairs at our outdoor ceremony. The company said they are longer-lasting for them than the wooden ones. They also have a 200 pound weight limit. Now, is it just ME, or does that make anyone a little bit nervous?!? I’ve got some big guys and a couple of big girls coming to our wedding, and I am having nightmare visions of them sitting down and the chairs collapsing beneath them.
Did this ever happen to you? Did chairs break at your ceremony?
I have one person who MIGHT attend and he is very, very large. I would hate for him to be anxious about taking a seat, and I hate to have a single chair sturdy enough for him to sit in- I mean, do I put his name on it? That seems like I’m singling him out.
Anyone? Tips appreciated!!!

That’s crazy. 200 isn’t THAT much, especially for a guy.

Ugh I would not give him a special chair. That’s worse than the possibility of a chair breaking.
I would ask the rental place what they usually do. Is the 200 lb weight limit just a precaution or is it constantly a problem?

That is a crazy low limit! A quick google search shows that they should have a limit of 5 times that. Maybe double check with the company?

@Blush_and_Bashful: As a heftier gal myself, there is an art to sitting on those horrible chairs. It’s called “not relaxing” and being ever on guard for creaking sounds. WTF!
Maybe you and your sweetie can sit on a chair together, give it a good whomp, and see what happens. Not very scientific but perhaps your own sanity check will help allay your fears.

That is kind of ridiculous- lots of guys are that big without being overweight.
