I have decided on the Maggie Sottero Summer Royale dress in Ivory for my summer 2011 wedding! So excited : ))
BUT I have sizing worries! I tried on a sample size 8 and it seemed to fit perfectly in the hips and slightly loose in the bust. Since the dress is a corset, I know that sizing doesn’t have to perfect….but I am concerned about ordering an 8 now and then it being too big for the wedding.
I am currently 37-29-38 and 140 lbs at 5’5. I would like to lose about 12 lbs for the wedding and be somewhere in the high 120’s, maybe 127/128. I know everyone says they are going to lose weight and many don’t : ) BUT I am hoping that since I am already in fairly good shape, have only 12 – 15 lbs to lose and 8 months to lose it, that I will be successful.
So, my worry is will the 8 still fit??? I would be scared to order a 6! Any advice from people also needing to buy their dress before they shed the “wedding weight”?

I’m in almost the exact same boat- I bought a Maggie Sottero Catarina dress for May 2011, and I did order the size 8. I’ve dropped about 8 lbs since then and want to drop another 10-15, but the consultant told me that it’s so much easier to take a dress in than to let it out, so order the largest size you’d possibly need and then trust the seamstress 🙂
Good luck with your weight loss too (although with your measurements, height, weight etc- I’m sure you look beautiful just as you are!)

I have the Summer and I ordered a size 10. I tried on a sample size 12 and it was loose in the bust but fit throughout the rest but she told me to get a 10. I’m 5’5 too but about 150lbs and I want to lose about 5-10 lbs before March. From trying on my dress I’d say if I lose 5-10 lbs I’ll definitely still fit in the 10. I would say you should be fine since it’s a corset but may have to get it altered a little since it was already kind of big in the bust. I hope this helps.

Im wearing the Summer Royale too! Congrats on picking a great dress. You may want to check with your seamstress I have recently lost about twenty pounds and may be ordering a second Summer Royale because my seamstress seems to think because of the delicate material it may be a bit of a problem to alter the dress too much.

Thanks for your help ladies! I checked again with the bridal shop’s seamstress and she seemed to think that losing 12 lbs would still be ok for a size 8. She said the same as you Miss Taco Night! Its MUCH easier to take in a dress than let it out!
And for you ladies with the Summer, the seamstress said that this particular dress really needs to fit the hip size properly and that most women only lose an inch or so in the hips if they only lose 10-15 lbs as hip measurement in a fairly normal weight woman is mostly bone structure and can’t be altered that much.
So I am going with the 8, and when I drop the weight (thinking positively!) probably having the bust and waist slightly altered!

Since it’s a corset dress, I think that it’s forgiving (adjustable) to a range of sizes. You should buy the size dress that fits now (like the size 8 that fits), so if you lose 10-15 pounds, the corset can be tightened to the smaller size. Worst case scenario (or really best case, depending on how you look at it) is that you will need to take the dress in. Size 8 in a wedding dress in like size 6 in regular dresses, so I think that you probably already look great!

@Stiz: The bridal store ordered the Maggie Sottero Michelle in a size 6 for me. When they measured me…I was 36 27 38 and I am 5’4″. I weighed 125 at that time.
Hope that helps
