Weight Loss on the Candida Diet ~ 12lbs in 4 weeks melted away so far!!

    I just wanted to share my story in case it called out to anyone else and helps them.

    In prep for my wedding this past November I started on a low calorie, gluten free, organic low fat- high protein diet.  

    • I did ten days of no carbs and no sugar and dropped 8lbs.  But then NOTHING.  
    • I went to the gym and did cardio and weights twice a day, and although I toned up, I lost NOTHING.
    • I ate 800-1000 calories a day and lost NOTHING.
    • I decided to enjoy my wedding and honeymoon and ate everything, including daily dessert on the honeymoon and I gained NOTHING.

    It was clear my system was stuck in a holding pattern and wasn't moving one way or another.

    Then by a fluke I decided to do a candida cleanse just for good health, and the weight has just been melting off.  So I guess by following the good diet (veges and lean protein) AND by killing off candida in my body, my body is getting proper messages and is now buring off the fat as I would expect.  In four weeks I have dropped another 12 lbs and I look and feel amazing... down from a size 8 to a size 6.

    I did an internship with an OBGYN and anytime I see the word candida... I think vaginal yeast.

    Weight loss is a simple calories in vs calories out. It seems that you screwed up your metabolism more than anything by eating such a small amount per day. I would contribute this to your weight loss as opposed to yeast which have nothing to do with your metabolism.

    @MsNarwhal: I was about to pretty much say exactly this. I've always been told (by doctors even) that you shouldn't drop below 1200 calories a day or it will start to mess with your metabolism.

    @MsNarwhal: @misspeanut: Agreed. 800-1000 calories a day will send your body into starvation mode. I screwed up my metabolism badly by eating like that when I was a teen.

    @SFreeman2187:  I know.  But as you know it can also live elsewhere in the body and if you have too much sugar in your diet, or have taken too many antibotics (like I did as a teen) it can just be imbalanced in your gut.  I also had mercury poisioing in my late 20's which contributed to the overgrowth.  But yes, it's in the gut, not the other.

     

    @MsNarwhal: @misspeanut: @linguo42:  That was only for a period of 14 days.  Then I went back to normal eating of low fat lean organic protein, brown rice shakes, and lots of fresh organic greens and veges.  So not enough time to mess up my metabolism.  I am 38 years old and know better.  I am also in the health industry and don't advocate not eating.  But I do advocate doing what is right for your body and eliminating allergy potential foods and sugars.  The weight loss from this candida cleanse wansn't planned, but sure is nice to see that my metabolism isn't indeed out of whack and I can loose weight with whole and healthy foods.

    Losing 8 pounds in ten days and then 12 pounds in 4 weeks, whether it was intended or not, is pretty drastic. I would still be careful.

    @linguo42:  Understood.  Here is a good youtube video that better explains what I was trying to say.  It's about cleansing the body to get good diegestion and alkaline environment back on track.  It also explains why this can affect weight (fat) gain or loss.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvzMKQL0wwI&sns=fb.

    In the end, it is about cutting our sugar and processed foods, and eating a good variety of raw or minimially processed veges and fruits, nuts seeds, beans, and low fat lean meats.  Of course lots of good water also.

    I would hope that anyone reading this and thinking of trying it will consult with a doctor before they try it
