I was thinking about this post last night and thought it might be a fun thing to bring up on the boards, can you think of a strange fact about yourself (or your FI) or both of you?
This is why I thought of this, Mr.Tal and I haven't bought toilet paper in over a year! Just realized this last night, it's been a year since we purchased paper towels and toilet paper.
(And just to ease any EWW factors, he programs palletizers and gets to take product home after testing, last year he brought home a case of TP and paper towels and just as we were running out this week got some more!)
Hah that's pretty cool, we always forget to pick up TP! ![]()
SO is a Dungeons and Dragons addict, and you'd never be able to tell by looking at him, lol
I keep multiple hives of bees as a hobby, and for honey! This always seems to surprise people, since I people don't really pin me as the farm-activity type (I also keep huge vegetable gardens and tend to my Dad's cattle).
My husband didn't learn to ride a bike until he was 23! And I've never seen Star Wars, which most people find exceptionally odd.
Oh I thought of another one...
Mr.Tal knows every single line to the Lord of the Rings Movies. Every. Single. Line. Seriously, I've seen him mouth the whole thing
Tho, he'd say I probably know every single episode of Gilmore Girls by heart. Which is probably true.
SO plays over 15 card games regularly ( nerdy cards, like i'm talking pokemon and world of warcraft and such! )
Baking is my passion, i'd love to decorate cakes for a living and would be in a kitchen making cupcakes and delicious treats at all times if i could!! ( that and i have a strange obsession with purchasing paper that i never use.. :[ )
My fiance likes to put salt in his Coke. I like to eat my bananas wrapped with American cheese.
Weird, I know!
I eat the same thing for lunch every single day. I also eat the same thing for dinner every day. (They're two separate things from two separate restaurants tho, if that makes it less weird.)
That's pretty weird, Mr. Bee! Do you at least mix it up at breakfast?
What's weird about me? Hmm, I post on the Weddingbee boards when I should be studying criminal law. :)
I don't eat breakfast... and it's not weird to post on Weddingbee instead of doing work! That's what I'm doing right now!!
@ mouse I think everyone posts (at least once) on weddingbee when they should be working!
There is absolutely nothing wierd about me or my husband:) That's the funniest lie I ever told!
My husband married me when I had SIX yes SIx small children.
I called a radio talk show to question if I should marry a man who would marry a women with SIX children, The good DR told me that I "needed more help then she could give me" if I was a single MOm with six kids and not jumping on the proposal. (I didn't tell my husband the story for years)
Mr. S can't wink with one of his eyes (when he tries, he just ends up looking crazy!) and he can't blow a bubble with bubble gum...my attempts to teach have have gone no where :)
@Lillindy - I'd rather not post what I eat... then my nutritional choices might be analyzed. :-)
I don't get tired of eating the same thing every day. I tell Mrs. Bee this is a sign that I am faithful, even to my food!
Fiance can tuck the top of his ears into the ear canals and leave them there. (Stephen Colbert can do the same thing). When he was little he could only fall asleep that way. They'd find him sucking his thumb with ears tucked in.
Dunno if I should have shared that, but since we laugh at it, it must be ok.
Oh and he can't whistle... but then I can only smirk on one side of my face and not the other... so we both make fun of each other over these idiosyncracies.
@mrbee - that's so cute ... faithful even to your food.
So weird facts about us: we met at a gay bar where he worked (and I assumed he was gay because he worked there - turns out I was VERY wrong). I'm 30 and never learned how to swim (he's determined to teach me before we go to Cancun for our honeymoon this October), and he was named Jakob after his uncle Jerome (who everyone called Jakey ... it took me a while to wrap my head around that one... "How are you named after him if his name is Jerome and yours is Jakob?")
@doctorgirl - does he ever do that to fall asleep now? Maybe when he's stressed? That would be really cute.
This is fun and interesting!!
FI plays Warhammer 40k, a tabletop game with glorified army men. He once told me the money he and his brother have spent on this hobby could buy a small house! ![]()
Wow. And now Warhammer has come out as a computer game similar to World of Warcraft and now I'm hooked too!!!
This is hilarious!
My fiance and I like exactly the same foods..prepared exactly the same way. I'm much more daring with my food and orders in restaurants than he is, but if I like something, we know he'll like it too. We have yet to find anything that one of us likes that the other doesn't.
We don't have a microwave---mostly for health reasons. I've never owned one in my entire live (but I've used one before). People freak out and say "How to you heat up leftovers????" 10 minutes in a pan on the stove, everyone!!!
I don't know if this qualifies as a weird fact, but my husband and I are obsessive about attending University of Michigan football games. I haven't missed a home game since 1996 and he hasn't missed one since 1993. In our group of friends, if you reach 100 consecutive games, then you get a commerative t-shirt. I'm looking forward to mine, at the end of next season!
My SO didn't get his driver's license until the age of 30. He grew up in the city and took public trans everywhere; he just never needed a license. But he finally started getting self-conscious about his decade-old state ID card with a pic that no longer looked anything like him. :-P
Also, he eats a banana and an apple every single weekday. (this makes me very happy, since my previous SO ate almost no fruit or veggies). He buys five bananas every Sunday and takes them to work on Monday. He has one of those banana-bunch holders on his desk.
I don't really know any "weird" facts about myself. Hmm...
@Doctorgirl thats so funny and cute!
Fun fact... My first words to my boy (freshman year of highschool) were making fun of his long and complex (Indian) name. Classy, I know *blush*
Hah! These are great, everyone!
I have never purchased stamps before - I've even managed to avoid it while sending out invitations and STDs! Oh, and I don't know how to burp. My fiance can't snap his fingers, so he does this weird one-handed-clap thing instead. He's a funny one. :-)
I love these! Ok, let's see. My husband is an Eagle Scout (like the highest scouting level). And I never pumped my own gas until I was 20 (my dad always filled my tank for me). :)
My husband can't snap. I can snap wonderfully and when I do it show off, it gives him the heebeegeebeeies. Guess he thinks it's freaky that fingers can make that noise.
I hate mustard. With a vengence.
This is too funny!
FI has eaten Eggo waffles with peanut butter and syurp for breakfast nearly every day of his life. He eats pb on every sammich, including turkey or BLT.
Something odd about me? That's hard to narrow down. I consider myself a "Paste Eater" one of those people who ride the border between 'quirky' and just plain wierd.
Together FI and I call eachother "Bay". When we first me, he thought it stood for baby, but it realy started form "Bailey" on Party of 5, who I had a huge crush on. I've never told him the truth, but we've always just been "Bay".
my FI and love to dance. we even make electronic pop music together. when making dinner together we dance in the kitchen all the time!
My husband has to dip his fork three times before most every bite. He has to check the alarm clock until it "feels right" this can take about 5 min every night. He twitches a lot right before he falls asleep and doesn't even know it.
I can't use the first stall in a bathroom. Pretty much ever. I don't know why. I can't use the last one either. This is a problem if there's only 3 stalls and the middle one is dirty.
We're a little weird at our house.
Mr. Taffy has never eaten macaroni and cheese. (!!!) I think that is crazy. Also, he only started eating cheese on his pizza after college. I love cheese!
I talk in my sleep almost every night. I also had scarlet fever as a child! Hmm, I have a phobia of milk, I let it all drain out of the spoon before I will eat cereal.
April- your husband's quirk sounds like it is a little on the OCD spectrum... Hopefully those are the only symptoms of OCD he exhibits :)
Oh how I've missed the Lounge! What a great thread! :o)
I don't think that I've ever shared that for the past ten years, I've been a huge NASCAR fan. Up until this season, I bled Home Depot orange for Tony Stewart. Strange for a girl from Miami, I know.
Not so strange for a Miami girl is the fact that I was almost 30 before I saw snow for the first time. (I haven't seen it again since!)
An interesting little fact about Mr. Y is that he's color blind.
I have bizarre toes and so does my twin sis. Instead of making a curve from big toe down to pinky toe "\", they're pretty much straight across "|". And I can splay them out really wide, like frog toes. And cross my pinky toes over my ring toes. It freaks Mr. Spin the hell out, which I find really funny. He calls them our hobbit toes. ^_^ I can't, however, roll my tongue into a cylinder or any of that stuff.
Mr. Spin...hm. Gosh. He's pretty normal. He won't eat rice and can't stand mayo (will only use Miracle Whip. ew), but that's not super odd. He is, however, uniquely suited to joining a medical profession--he can lay down on the couch and be sound asleep in less than 2 minutes and can wake up not groggy. I've watched him do it. It's totally bizarre to me. ^_^
My FI likes Star Wars. Really likes it. He has over 20 replica light sabers mounted in glass cases. (Apparantly each character had a different light saber in each movie?) These things are probably over $500 each. He also has lots of helmets from storm troopers, Darth Vader, Darth Maul, etc. And to boot, he does not like anyone to know he even likes Star Wars. The company that makes them even sent him a free replica weapon from the movie "Alien" for being such a good customer.
There's nothing weird about me... except that I am compulsive about cleaning the bathroom. And I know all the words to "Ice Ice Baby."
How interesting this is!
@samisomsam - my FI paints the Warhammer miniatures! He doesn't play the tabletop game, though--but he does play the MMO.
FI also owns a company that produces an "adult" video game.
I live in a house with 4 boys and 2 (male) cats... testosterone-y! ![]()
My FI thinks that PB&J is strickly a breakfast food, he won't eat "ripe" bananas (just starting to spot) and has a special sammich that I refuse to make (it's gross! PB, butter and brown sugar! EEEW)
I can't whistle and I get pissed if people do it around me when they know I can't. (I don't say anything; that would be rude, but I'm steaming inside.) I can't clean up cat barf (we have 2 cats) - I told FI that we could get cats if he PROMISED he'd clean up their barf/hairballs! (the same goes for a dog!) LOL
This thread is fun but now I feel like a freak! LOL
My tongue rivals Gene Simmon's. I can touch above the tip of my nose & I can touch the bottom of my chin. lol I don't have a shrunken face or anything either.
My FI loves to take bubble baths & read in the tub. I remember the first time I walked in on him... he looked up at me and said "Don't judge me!" Now its a running joke... because I HATE taking baths. Something about sitting in stagnant water just gives me the heebie-jeebies!
This is a good thread!
Weird fact about me - I can raise my left eyebrow only and both at the same time, but not just my right. I can also wiggle my nostrils which most people can't do
FI - hmmm I can't think of anything good. But he is also one that can fall asleep within minutes of laying down which I find especially irritating since most of the time it takes me a while to fall asleep
@DoctorGirl - You have my crying I am laughing so ahrd over here! The thought of baby MrDoctorgirl sucking his thumb with tucked in ears! HAHAHAH! Too cute!
@MrsSl82be - I can raise my right eyebrow or both but not my left!!
Mr.Bee- You and my fiance are the same. The restaurant we order from, the waitress actually knows his voice and knows our exact order because we get it almost every day. Lol. Actually, there's two restaurants that are our favorites for carryouts, so we rotate and have those as our day-to-day meals ... lol. That's so weird. I never knew anyone else did this besides us.
At first I felt a slight bit weird that the same people at the same restaurant saw me get the same carryout like everyday ... lol, but now I don't care and it's like ok whatever I cannot cook, cool.
My weird thing: I cannot ride a bike!
