Ok, so FMIL reposted a picture of a quote saying “My children might not have everything they want in life, but they have a mom who loves them more than anything in the world.”
i have no idea what to think of this. we just got engaged less than 2 weeks ago. We’ve been together almost 9 years, we have a beautiful home together, he has a good job, as do i. we have a kitten that’s like our child. we pay our bills on time, we have fun nights with friends… i’m just confused why she would post something ab him not having everything he would want in his life. He’s an only child, so its definitely directed towards him.
i’m just not sure what to think. anyone have any insight??

@theEguarantee: She either wants grandchildren or she is just patting herself on the back for the loving Mom that she is. Or both.

@theEguarantee: i think you’re reading too much into it. just ignore it. she was probably like, aw, what a sweet sentiment, that my children will always have their mother even when they don’t have everything else — POST.
don’t overthink it.

Eh I wouldn’t worry about the meaning it is just a picture she posted on FB with the quote.

Maybe it was meant to be a really general statement? I think its rare for someone to have everything they want in life. I don’t think it was really meant the way it might initially came across.

I think you’re thinking way too into it.

@theEguarantee: Don’t think anything of it. My mom reposts the dumbest picture quotes with no relevance to anything. Most recently it was a pic of young woman shooting that said “teach your daughters to shoot because a restraining order is just a piece of paper” — my DH saw it and asked why my mom thought I needed a restraining order against him? I reemed her out because it makes people think that there are problems between DH and I and we were both really upset. But she just shared it because she thinks it’s funny and just plain DOESN’T THINK.

thanks yall. thats pretty much what i needed to hear. i get where shes coming from with the second half of the quote, the first half just kinda felt like a slap in the face. not sure what else hes missing besides winning the lottery lol i hope she didnt mean anything by it, but shes really not the sweetest person in the world. i’ll have to just let it go & hope she doesnt say anything worse than this! lol

@theEguarantee: Calm down! It’s probably nothing! Like one of the PP’s said, she probably thought it was sweet, and hit post. I do that all the time! -hugs-

@theEguarantee: I wouldn’t jump to conclusions. It don’t sound like it is anything specifically against anyone. In reading what she wrote I think maybe she meant it to mean that her children are at different places in life. And no matter what she loves them.
My oldest is 21, I have posted similiar things. When I post it, usually it is just mom missing her kids, and wanting to dote on them.
Don’t take it personal. I am sure she didn’t mean it that way.
Unless of course there is some bad history.

I agree that you’re reading too much into this. I don’t think this was directed at you at all. Nobody ever has everything they want. I think she was just saying – “I love my son and I saw this cute quote somewhere”

@theEguarantee: Uh, sounds like she found a picture with a quote that she really likes and decided to post it. Not everything on FB is meant to be some passive-agressive jab. Sometimes people just find things they like and it doesn’t correlate to something happening in their lives right at that moment. If she really want to slight you she would have posted it immediately after you got engaged, not 2 weeks later.

@theEguarantee: I think she thought it was a cute quote about motherhood and posted it. I don’t think there is a big deeper meaning.

I think you are overthinking it.. It is probably just a quote she stumbled upon that made her feel motherly..
