Hi ladies! I just wanted to say welcome to the South Asian board. I know how difficult it can be to plan a South Asian wedding, so hopefully we can all be a great source of support to each other :)
I'll start with a little bit about myself: I'm Indian (both my parents are from Kerala) and my fiance is from Pakistan. We both grew up in the United States though. We're planning a Muslim wedding that will take place in just a few weeks :)
Hi Jasmine, GOod luck on your wedding =) I've read all your blogs and I know your wedding is going to be spectacular =) So I have a Q. for you, so I'm getting married next year, and my wedding theme colors are Fuschia, Spice Orange and Brown. So the BMs and GMs will be wearing clothes along that color scheme, but what about me? I don't just want to fit in, more so stand out =) So I was thinking stick with the traditional colors for the wedding (Maybe through in the Fuschia and Orange here), but for the reception I'm lost. The only colors that come to mind are cream/ gold....any other suggestions?
Hello! I'm half-Pakistani, and I'm marrying a German-American, so our wedding is going to be American. But we decided that we have to have a Mehndi, too. I've always thought that the Mehndi is the really fun part of Pakistani weddings anyway. I'm not being at all traditional about it, but I like that I get to show my friends part of my culture. Plus I got a GORGEOUS sari and bought saris for all my BMs, who are super-excited about wearing them.
My wedding is actually next week. Thursday is the Mehndi, Friday is the Rehearsal dinner and Saturday is the wedding. Eeeeek! I was just on the phone with my mom and my aunts and uncle are all here from Pakistan already, so the chaos is beginning. I'm so excited.
Miss Jasmine, I've loved reading your posts. My favorite was the one on Indian jewelry. So fun! And it was really helpful for my non-desi friend who was marrying an Indian boy. Anyway, I will be back after the wedding to hear more about your wedding. I can't wait to see pictures!
