We went to the doctor for our biophysical profile on Monday the 19th, and much to our surprise we were told our little one was breech. We then met with our midwife, who discussed our options with us. We decided to schedule a version with the liklihood of having a c-section. Our midwife then suggested we go into the hospital the next day! We went from not knowing when the little one would show up to a whirlwind of emotions accepting things weren't going as planned, and we'd definitely have a baby tomorrow!
So Tuesday morning rolls around and we head to the hospital. It must have been super busy because we had to wait for a triage bed. 45 minute wait later we were finally given a bed in triage, IV's started and they put the fetal monitors on. The doctor came in to discuss our options again, and after much thought we decided not to try to turn the baby and just go in for the c-section. We were taken into the OR at about 12:15, and I was given the spinal, and within the next 10 minutes the surgery had started. It was 12:49pm when we welcomed our little one into the world. Our team green turned into team pink as little Avery Mae was born. They finished stitching me up, and Avery, daddy and I were taken to the recovery room.
My recovery was quite well, and I'm feeling pretty good. This was just a start to acknowledging that nothing ever goes as planned with children
.

Ugghh all these baby pics...they make me want one!!
What a sweet and precious gift you have! Congratulations, Avery Mae is beautiful!
So you and the hubby didn't find out the sex until the baby arrived? I want to do that too. I see the bedding is dark brown and animals and she has on white with a dark blue or black design all over it.... you were expecting a boy or is what she has now considered unisex clothing and bedding?
Oh my gosh she's beautiful! I love her name too :) Congratulations!
@L2sweetpea: Awwww - welcome, baby Sweet Pea!
Where'd you get that adorable mat that she's laying on??
Thanks everyone!
@MuchGreater We didn't find out the gender prior to the birth. The comforter was gender neutral coloring. Her onsie is actually something we bought after she was here. It's actually a navy blue, but they are flowers on them (making it more girly).
@BabyBoecksMom The blanket is actually the comforter from her bedding set. We got the set at Babies R Us
What a beautiful girl! Congrats! Glad the recovery is going well
What a cutie pie! Love her name as well (and the comforter she's laying on!) Congratulations!
Congrats! She is adorable and I love her name. The Hive has had so many more girls than boys born lately!
What a cutie! Congratulations! Glad everyone is healthy and happy. And you are correct...nothing ever goes as planned, and often it's no where near what you expect! :) But that's what makes it fun!
@L2sweetpea: awww, okay I have been taking notes because once we are married, having relations, and eventually get preggo we want the sex to remain secret until our baby is born too. Thanks for answering... beautiful baby by the way
OMG how adorable is she!!? Avery Mae is an absolutely beautiful name! Congrats!
Gosh, she's cute! Congrats! You give me the baby fever even worse ;)
