I just finished silk screening the welcome bags. We are using 'I carry your heart' by e.e cummings in our ceremony so it is becoming a bit of a theme.

I thought it would be 'clever' to use I carry your heart across the bag and attach the full poem on the outside. I have attached it with some raffia but i think it looks terrible. What to use? Ribbon? Distressed fabric? Something else?

Also (and please be honest) should i lower the words on the bag?

This sh** is so hard sometimes ...

I think it looks great that way, but lower could be good too.

how much would someones hands rub it there?

I think your bags look great; you did an awesome job!!!

If you don't want to use the rafia, I would get some muslin and tear some strips into long enough peices to tie the tags and I would also add a little heart charm to the tie.

@gogogiraffes: Interesting. Can you expand on the 'rub hands' thing? Do you mean the word placement and the likelihood that it will be brushed against often?

I would use a ribbon the same color as the heart or the green color on the lower corner of the poem-or both. Tie a small bow or just a knot.

It is clever to use the poem in different ways! Also, I like the text placement on the bag. Don't worry about the raffia either unless you really feel like you need to change it! It goes well with the printed poem. Those look like they took a lot of work! Good luck finishing your project!

    Thanks!

I like the idea of ribbon (maybe cream and green polkadots) and heart charms ...

    Does it ever end!!

I think a thin lace ribbon would look nice with your tags as well. Overall the bags look great! I love how you incorporated part of your ceremony into other areas of the wedding.

I think the placement is cool, but you could move it down if you liked it better.

I also think the rafia is just fine.  Most people will detach right away anyway, so it's not a detail to stress yourself out over.  However if you really wanted to change it I think a green ribbon or an ivory lace ribbon would be lovely too.  Just not something I'd spend a lot of time or money on.

That red & white baker's twine might be really cute too :-)
