hmm...I would put a ghost tour thing in it. Ive always wanted to do that in NO. Maybe a deck of cards for the gambling sector of the town.
what about those hubig's pies? I am not originally from here, but I thought I heard someone say those are from LA?
I love the Hubig's pie idea! How about recipe cards with yummy traditional New Orleans cuisine?
yum! I love to make corn and crawfish soup! There is also a store down here that has the "2011 Lousiana Guide" Not NOLA specific, but I am sure there are things Nola related.
Maybe along with your walking tour of French Quarter, you can make a little map with the St. Charles street car route on it? It ends down by the Camillia City Grill, or one of my favorites thats half way through is the New Orleans hamburger and Seafood Co.!
(funny how most things revolve around food down here!)
You could also make your own cookies to go in there? I just got an aligator and a fleur di lis cookie cutter.
contact the cvb -- they'll give you plenty of guide books and maps. i'm including zapps, crystal, pralines, mardi gras beads, hubigs, a box of zatarains, tony chacheres, water, and tourist info. if i have leftover budget, i'll add coffee & chicory and pat o's mix.
by the way, if you need mardi gras beads, I have quite a few if you'd like them you can have them! (I can email you pictures)
I know this is out of date but I am also adding Mardi Gras cups. If you are doing Hubig pie's in bulk they will stamp your wedding info on it in place of the price they normally have stamped on them. I was going to do this but I really didn't have room.
We also typed up a little brochure with our fav places.
I really want to do Zapps, specifically cajun crawtators, in ours. I hadn't really thought about beads, but it seems to obvious, and so easy to do
Definitely pralines. Maybe some local recipes (you're welcome to pm me for this).
And Jazzy Passes for rides on the streetcars!

To the locals,
I am having my wedding in New Orleans. It's a weekend wedding and for the most part, all of our guest are traveling in from out of town. While I am from NOLA, I am having a hard time thinking of items to include in the welcome baskets for my guest. I want to include items specific to NOLA, without going overboard on the cheesy stuff.
I was thinking...Zapps, tabasco sauce, water, postcard, walking tour of French Quarter and Mardi Gras beads.
Anyone have other fun ideas that I could include in the baskets?
