While Mr Corn and I live in Boston, our wedding was held at Fort Adams in Newport, RI, so I figured I would start a thread here to welcome all the RI brides. Of course, you are more than welcome to hop on up to the Boston Boards as well.
Hi! I'm another Newport bride, but we live in Boston. Our wedding is now less than a year away (May 15, 2009). No longer do I have to specify 2009 when someone asks me when I'm getting married! :)
The ceremony and reception will be held at this private dining club in Middletown which is right over the boarder. It is right on the point, so it looks out to all the mansions.
Our wedding is at St. Mary's in Bristol, about 25 mins outside newport. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a catholic church in newport that would marry us (parishoners only). Our reception is on Goat Island in Newport at Belle Mer. It's on the water, and overlooks the Newport Bridge. Very excited!!
The reception wil be at Aldrich Mansion in Warwick, RI!!! Woo hoo...where they filmed Meet Joe Black....it's gorgeous!! CAn't wait!!! I live in CT...but I will be getting ready at my mama's...
My fiance's parents actually live in Narrangansett, and his mom works at Spa Vure, which does hair and makeup. I'm not sure yet if I'm just going to get a hotel room for the couple of nights before, or just stay with his parents, but either way, I'm having a lady from spa vure come and do my hair and another one is doing makeup for my entire bridal party. I highly recommend them!
One thing I haven't figured out yet is a DOC. I definitely think I'm going to need one because I have several DIY projects, and I'm a perfectionist -- I'm scared that without one, I'm going to want to do it all myself! :) Any suggestions??
hey alicialynn1. Welcome to the hive. August 09 might seem far away, but my suggestion is to get your vendors set up before the 1 year mark. That way, you won't have as much competition!!
Ohhh, I love the Towers alicialynn! It's such a beautiful and unique venue!
I feel your pain about the long wait. We were engaged in Oct 07 and our wedding is May 09, but trust me -- now that we're finally under the one year mark, having already found my reception site, church, florist, photographer, and dress is a HUGE weight off my shoulders. Everyone was amazed that I was doing things so "early" but you have your pick of the best that way! :)
Hi everyone - long time reader, first time poster.
I am originally from NY, but have lived here for three years now. (Has it been that long already?!) My FI is a RI native.
I just put the check in the mail for the reception hall, so we're good to go.
We will be getting married on May 30th and the ceremony will be held on the Newport Naval Station at the Chapel of Hope. (Just met our priest and LOVE him!) and the reception will follow at the Rotunda at Easton Beach. We are doing a lobsterboil. Very excited! FI says he can't wait to see me in a wedding dress and lobster bib!
Just put the deposit down on the rehearsal dinner site also. We will be having it at the Officers Club, also on the Newport Naval Station.
With a 15 month deployment under our belt, and many other obstacles overcome, we are getting excited and looking forward to our life together. In addition to blending our lives, we each have a son from previous relationships who are exactly one year apart. Just call us the Brady bunch!
Thanks for listening, and congratulations to all the RI brides out there!

posted by LNickle 2 months agoHi, RI bees. My boyfriend and I live in NYC but are getting married 9/6 at my aunt's house in Middletown.
We've got all the big stuff done, I just need a hair and possibly a makeup person and a florist for my bouquet.
We sent out our invites yesterday (and some people already got them!) so it's feeling really real, and exciting, now!
