I have a gift, Hive.
The uncanny ability to find the perfect Christmas gift for every person on my list, year after year, decade after decade….but what people don’t know is that doesn’t just happen, my talents certainly cannot be wrung from me in the brief weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas…no, it takes MONTHS of searching, looking, listening and finally finding that perfect, one in a million, shining and amazing gift….
Not to mention its much easier on the finances to spread things out a bit on the buying front…however, the gifts have started to stack up on the dining room table, and Mr. 99, ever the neat freak created a new term today that is both horrible and fun:
Me: Your sister’s gift should get here on Thursday, so keep an eye out.
Him: What did you get her again?
Me: Cupcake shit…she likes baking them…I figured that was the gift that keeps on giving to us all…
Him: Ah yes, cupcake shit…and only four months early…yay….
Me: Well, we’ll just have to find a place to put all this stuff, I still have to set up dollhouse shop and you might want to find a designated area, because that’s going to be horrible to look at until its done in mid-December….
Him: Yes…yes it will be…..(looking around the house) Ok, you go back to work and by the time you get home, I’ll have created the Christmas Hole…
Me: Christmas Hole?
Him: Yeah….the hole that Christmas comes from…
Me: It crawls out of a hole?
Me: I thought it comes down the chimney…
Him: If you’re eight, but when your me, and you’re married to an insufferable Christmas elf that insists on shopping early AND creating a holiday memory the likes of which can never be eclipsed by building a dollhouse for her neice which is all well and good but renders the house a splintery, hot glue smelling disaster area…then it comes from a hole.
Me: Well that’s jolly…
Him: I love you, and I love Christmas with you, its amazing…but everything leading up to that is Christmas Hole territory…
Me: I’m comfortable with that.
Him: I’ll see you later.
Me: Thanks for the Hole.
Him: Anytime, baby.
