Beautiful. Such a wonderful weekend for you.
Congratulations on your engagement
@Mrbee - The first shocked speechless moment was the first time he looked me straight in the eye and said, "I love you." As we had been together for almost 6 months at that point and I knew just how careful he was with "The L Word" it was all I could do to keep it together. If I had tried to talk I would of started crying and I was terrified that turning on the waterworks would freak him out!
Wow he sounds like a deeply intentful person... :-)
Congrats to you both!!!
Wow, beautiful rign and congrats! I'm getting ring envy today, I'm seeing so many beautiful rings!

... we bought my e-ring!
How's that for building suspense?
I know, I know, where's the picture right? Here you go - I'll save the chatting for after the pic!
Sorry it's not clear, it's the best I could do at the jeweler with what I had available!
So, for those of you who are still reading... I was totally blind-sided by my guy. He told me several times in no uncertain terms that he was not going to adhere to any kind of logic as to when he "officially proposed" (as in we've been planning but I didn't have the bling yet so most people don't think we're "really" engaged). He wanted to do it his way, on his terms, when I would not expect it. I totally took this to mean he would gather up the inspiration images we had come up with, head out on his own, super-sneakily buy the ring and suprise me with it on some random weekday evening.
Our Valentine's was actually a full-on weekend event. The kids were off at my parents house for a sleep-over Saturday night so we went out to our favorite Japanese grill for our Valentine's dinner. We had a drink while we waited for our seats, met another really cool couple who we were seated with and had a wonderful meal. Great date night. Then, Sunday (Valentine's morning) we went out for brunch together and had another great date. I should have suspected something was up at this point as my guy is totally not a just-go-out-and-spend-money type but hey, it was Valentine's - I figured multiple dates were my gift!
Brunch was fantastic and we were just sitting afterwards having coffee and chatting like we usually do when we go out when B. started to get kind of twitchy. I kind of rolled my eyes and thought to myself, "Can this man ever just be still?", and asked if he was ready to go. He said yeah, and off we went. To the jewelers.
Okay, let me just say that last bit once more with a bit more emphasis. We. Went. To. The. Jewelers. At this point I was just lost. Buzzing through my head were things like: What are we doing here? What's going on? Umm... Dude, seriously, what's up? I don't know how many of those I said out loud or how often I said them - I was honestly confuzzled! And he just stood there looking at me, with his hands in his pockets, grinning.
"Babe..." said I.
"Tell her," he said, kind of using his chin to point at one of the sales women, "which ring you want."
S-H-O-C-K-E-D.
We have been together for over 6 1/2 years and it's only the second time he has completely shocked me speechless. I seriously was just - wow.
So, we picked out my ring. It's a gorgous cushion cut sapphire in a halo setting and I adore it. When I get it back (it needs to be sized) I'll do it more justice picture-wise I promise! And I'll let y'all know the actual I-now-officially-have-the-ring-on-my-finger story too.
To all of you who are still waiting and feel like it's never going to happen - have faith and keep my story in mind. Your waiting time might seem like forever but when it's the right guy even a six+ year wait is worth it for this kind of moment!
