Have you ever seen previews for a movie and been all excited to see it, only to drag your butt out there and realize that you saw all of the cool parts in the preview? Yeah, it's like that. My pictures = meh. :(

I was SOOOO excited, because the teasers she sent were so awesome.

So now I'm just sittin' here, eating a bunch of Oreo's to make myself feel better. :(

How many photos should you get back that are really good? I mean, is there an average number I should be aware of? Maybe I had unrealistic expectations...

If a photographer takes 1000 images, maybe 50 or so of them will be good?

So sorry to hear you were disappointed!  How many pics did you like from the pics you got?

Aww, I am sorry.  Perhaps you'll change your mind after a second look =)  I know I was extremely disappointed with my HS senior photos (hold a grudge, much?  haha, i was c/o 2002) but looking back, I was just being overcritical.

I have had that feeling @ the movies though...for Paranormal Activity! Ugh.

Oh wow, well then I guess that's about right, actually....

Of the 300 or so delivered, I thought maybe 15-20 were awesome, and maybe 5 more were really good.

Maybe I really did have unrealistic expectations! Thanks, Mr. Bee! I feel a lot better now. :)

Frown *hugs*  maybe we just expect so much more than a person can give because we've been planning for this day for so long.   IDK.. maybe after a while you'll begin to love them all.

Give it some time, when I got my engagement pics. I liked 5 out of 300, after a couple of weeks it was more like 15 and like 5 that I actually framed. Your wedding pics. from what I saw were gorgeous though...just my opinion

Awww, I'm sorry you're feeling down about your pics.  I think it's really easy to feel a bit disappointed when you get a mass number of photos.  Just remember, for every wedding picture we see posted on a photographer's website or here on WB, there's probably 50 that didn't turn out so well.

We had 144 engagement pics taken and there were really only 2 that passed our first inspection.  Sigh, feel better.

lol krissycake - yeah, some of those were hers. And those were the kickass previews! There are a few more that are really, really awesome. But most of them are awkward, blurred, red-eye hasn't been edited out (I wondered why I got them so quickly! I mean, I just had my wedding!) and not usable. But I guess that's kind of the norm?

@mimosa - I think you're right. I really wanted them all to be as fabulous as the previews.... I really should be happy that so many came out well.

I think my main complaint is that I found the photographer through a friend and said friend's husband was the best man. Well, we have about a million pics of friend and husband, and about three of the MOH. I think I'm kinda ticked over that.

what don't you like about the pictures? the teasers were fantastic and fun and witty.. do you think you're looking at the untouched photos, like the photog still has to adjust the lighting maybe?

@crebre - yeah, I did. And with TWO shooters, they still didn't manage to get more than ONE pic of us as we were being introduced (head on) and we only have pics of our wedding party from behind as they were being introduced and our venue was pretty small, so I don't see why each person couldn't get us all from the front at two different angles. There are hardly any good pics of the reception - and not one good pic of me or my groom walking down the aisle - and absolutely ZERO of my MOH walkingd own the aisle - but of course, there are a few of the best man.

    Sigh. Yeah, I'm ticked.

Well, the ones I've seen are really fabulous and fun!  Makes me want to have been at your wedding :)

We had about 2,000 shots and we have about 120 really fabulously outstanding ones. Plenty for a beautiful album! (And our photographer is the best of the best of the best!)

I think it might be time to open a can of "whoop-ass" have your photog deliver professional pictures as in edited. If you paid  its only fair he holds up his end of the bargain since you did.

Sadly, those few shots ya'll saw in that other post are about it for my good wedding photos. And only about three of those were shot by the photographer. The rest were friend pics or faux-to booth pics. :( She does have a few more that are good - I won't lie. There are about 20 of them, grand total, that I like. :(

    I need more Oreo's.

Yeah I hope they did. I think every one of my friends there had a camera. I'll send out a mass request.

Thanks for the hugs. It's just kind of disappointing, because those few teasers were REALLY good. Here are some more of the good ones - i don't want ya'll to think she didn't take some great photos - she did. I think the total number was much smaller than I anticipated, and those were the ones she edited. She only edited about 20 of them, for some reason. :/

If you're not happy with your pics, please please please arrange a day-after session!!  It's the best tonic ever for photo disappointment. :-)

Btw, someone mentioned whoopass cuz the photog didn't edit the pictures - if it's only been 10 days since the wedding, then the pics aren't gonna be edited.  Hopefully s/he delivers edited pics per your contract soon!

@Mr. Bee - I think she's finished with editing. Or, at least as much editing as she is going to do. It's kind of like, crap, this is a friend of a friend... awkward! But still, I paid, she should deliver. I'm going to pull my contract and give it the once over....

And, the hubs just uttered "you and your Weddingbee..."

I would cut bait and get what editing you can... then bail.  Although if you paid a lot, maybe not...

Either way, I'd definitely find a way to get some day-after pics!  There are lots of photogs offering free or discounted day-after shots on the Classifieds - maybe try there?

Girl, the pics that you have shown us are so beyond kick ass, I think they make up for any that you don't think are up to par. And I don't even think it's the photographer, I think that you two just take awesome pics! Smile

I think the same thing happens to all of us, of the 1200 wedding photos I got, I think I loved maybe 30 or 40 max.  But, with a little editing and stuff, I grew to like some others and it ended up being enough to make an album.  I think the biggest disappointment is not getting photos you wanted and you put on the must have list, that happened with me and I don't have any pictures with me and my grandma from my wedding.

The way I look at it, they are people, too, and no photographer will ever be perfect and do everything exactly how a bride would want.  I would see if more editing will help you to at least like enough more pictures to put together with the super awesome pictures and make an outstanding album...that's what I tried to do! ;)  I think it will be totally doable for you since your pictures that I did see were so fun and made me wish I was at your wedding!

i love the pictures that you posted babe!! i agree with mr. bee about the day after, you still have the freshness of your wedding day and you could even take some faux shots of you walking down to meet him while he's waiting for you, see what i mean? to recreate the shots

    Agreed!

I emailed her and asked if basic editing wasn't included in all photos - like getting rid of red eye... that seems pretty basic to me.

I don't know jack about photo editing, but I think I'm about to teach myself, lol!

So you're saying that they didn't even get rid of red eye on some of the pictures?  That seems really shady to me.  That stuff should be done by anyone who wants to be considered a professional photographer!

Maybe I'm weird but I think I loved all my pictures.  Or I'm just easy to please!

    UPDATE

I emailed the photographer last night and simply said - Hey I received the pics, yadda yadda.... I assumed basic editing would be included in the price. Is this not the case?

I left it open so she could answer and if it wasn't, then we could try to work out something to have the basic editing done to the rest of the photos.

She responded rather snippily at first - stating that I had a lot of photos (more than most, she said - is that MY fault? I didn't ask her to take more than most....) and that she was just trying to get them to me quickly because she knew I wanted them quickly (I never said that) and that if I wasn't happy, let her know and she'd edit them.

Then seven minutes later, she sent another email telling me to ignore the first email, and that she'd just go ahead and edit them.

I'm glad she's going to go ahead and do it, but I feel like I've been scolded and I don't know why. I didn't ask for anything special - even tho she is a friend of a friend. I paid the same as anyone else, I didn't ask for additional photos or to receive them quickly. She emailed me over the weekend and said she had finished them early and I offered to pick  them up to save on postage and to get them quicker - but only AFTER she said she would be finished early.

    Hmph.
