Well, it took two and a half months but it finally happened.

Aw that sucks. The only thing my fiance and I ever fight about is his parents. I’m convinced they don’t like me, and they love to come over for visits! I hate company (even my own family!) and I get really stressed out and type-A when I have to clean before anyone comes over.

My fiance always helps me clean though. I’d make a list, give him half the chores, set a timer on the stove for an hour and see what you can get done. You’ll be amazed at how much you can get done in a solid hour with no breaks.

Also, I always get stressed out about cooking for them, so the first night we go out to dinner.

That sucks.

I LOVE my inlaws, but they are clean FREAKS and I feel so pressured to have the perfect home everytime they come. They don’t make comments or anything and they know better than to even use the term “wifely duties” with me lol. I’ve made it perfectly clear that I am not that kind of wife and that my DH and I share those supposed “wifely duties.”

We bought our house last year and the first time they visited they went on and on about how they loved it. We had been living here for about 8 months by that time, so we were all settled in. Well 2 weeks after they left I got a package of cleaning supplies in the mail. CLEANING SUPPLIES! A giant box of lysol, disinfectant, wipes, etc. Who sends that?! If we had just moved in that would be one thing, but I just found that to be extremely rude. Luckily my DH was just as insulted as I was so he “dealt” with that right away.

Gotta love the ILs!

I get cranky before we go to visit them, too.

Bribe him with dessert, give him a hug, and it’ll blow right over!

@WillowTreeWade:

@FutureDrAtkins:

Right?! My SIL tried to defend her parents and say, “They were just being nice! You know my parents!” I was like, “so if your MIL sent you cleaning supplies you wouldn’t be offended?” No response. I just don’t know who does things like that! Even if my relative’s home was filthy I would never send them a package with cleaning supplies haha.
