    Besides the holidays that is.

Last night T and I had a talk after I put my son down to bed and before we watched a movie..

He said "honey, reserve December 12 for us.  The firm is having a large formal dinner and dance (along with one of the mega companies they're representing) at the GA Aquarium.  I'll let you know more as I find out more, but it will be formal and I've gotten us a limo for the evening.  I'm letting you know so we can clear our schedule for that night and it's gonna be such an amazing night for us. "

If there was a night to have Christmas magic happen, it could be then..maybe earlier, but that would be amazing!

    Thanks so much!

We know we're already marrying next summer (late in the summer..possibly Labor Day weekend) and I am suuper traditonal.  I won't do anything formally such as buy the dress I've been eyeing, until the ring is on the hand!

I love you all soo much!!

But he knows he has to kick things into high gear.  This is something he understands 100 percent.  I spoke to my sis this morning and to bff and they both said it's going to depend on whether he feels it's a more intimate evening or that we're around too many people.  He's a private kind of guy and we enjoy the fact our relationship is ours.  Our anniversary is Dec. 27th so that's also got to be factored in too.

There is a chance there may be more than one couple in the limo with us but it would be his close friend and his wife.  I'd be the only woman at the event pretty much who isn't married btw.

Seriously I have no idea how this will go, but the time frame is right.  He knows that he has to do this soon.  He also knows I don't want to have it as my ex did it..on a holiday while I was sweating and working my butt off over a hot stove coming off of a night of emergency call at the hospital.  He knows I want some romance attached to the event somehow.

It would be amazing to show up at the event in a beautiful gown and have a beautiful sparkly ring on my hand too!  Kinda like some wacked-out Cinderella or Ariel the Mermaid fantasy I know..but it would be so cool!  Will somebody give me a fairy godmother now?  Puh-leeze?

Needless to say I'm kicking my diet and exercise into high gear.  Even if no ring appears and my fairy godmother is a dud or I don't grow a mermaid tail, it's not every day that a girl gets to go to the ball with the love of her life.  And at the neatest ballroom in town!  It's the Oceans ballroom!  The walls open up to the aquarium in different tanks and it's amazing.  You have sea life all around you!   He said that now each year I have to get an amazing dress as we'll have more parties to attend, since he joined this firm.  I have to admit.  It is kind of fun.

Plus I know he just secured a huge account that will last for quite a few years now.  He can afford it.  And he's known for almost a whole year what kind of ring/size/stone/metal I want.

Geez.  This whole "official waiting" part is hard you know?

I realize I could have gotten tons of things already done, but I am such a darned old fashioned kinda girl.  I WANT that promise to be there formally (even though he's already told me he intends to spend the rest of his life with me) and the outward sign of that promise to be sitting on my left hand very soon before I do anything.

What will I wear?  Geez that's a hard one.

He is going to let me know in the next 2 weeks as soon as the invites go out.  It's either going to be semi formal or formal.  That will be the kicker.

If it's formal, girl is going to go into uuber high gear for diet and exercise.  I'd love to wear this dress again.  It's a blue jersey gown, and the necklace that goes with it is made of sea glass.  I have had it for a few years, but I love this gown.  Style is just classic and the necklace got so many compliments!

(This is me (minus 15 lbs) in this dress):

Well something interesting is happening soon.. : wedding 4006429199 0ea66557e1 M

I think I can swing 12 pounds plus I own some spanx.  5 weeks to go from now!

Do you all like that dress?  I could go get something new.  But that dress is just perfect for that ballroom!

how exciting! Seriously, even if he doesn't propose, this sounds like a night you'll remember forever! I would LOVE to be able to go to balls with my hubby, but we just don't move in those circles, unfortunately heh It really does sound like a dream, ring or not! Squee! That dress you showed is nice, but I think I'd be too giddy and would want something new heh It's not even sparkley! lol That's just me though :) Seriously, from what I can see of that dress, it looks great on you.

Thanks JoesWifey.  Btw, I have only worn that dress one time.  That night.  So it's still to me wierdly new.

I may still go out and try to find one.  We will see.  I've always wanted to have a reason to wear it again though.  I bought it, had a special occasion to wear it and then had to tuck it away and put it in a bag b/c I had nowhere to wear it.

It's not like me to go to a ball or anything either really.  But it's fun.  He just joined this group a while back and apparently they do this once a year.  So yippee!

I just agree with you that whether the ring is on my hand, it will be an amazing evening!

But that dress has a history too.  When I wore it the one time, it was on the eve of my divorce.  The judge had signed the document the day before and it went into effect at midnight on that very day.  My evening out was the night I was officially a single woman at midnight.  That pic was right before midnight and I was not on a date, but with a much larger group of friends in Buckhead.  A few minutes after that pic was taken at midnight, I shed a few tears at my table, and the dark haired handsome friend of mine to the left asked me to dance and said he wanted the pleasure of having the first dance with a single girl.

So in a wierd way, that dress might be perfect.  I wore it when i became single again.  And I might wear it if I became engaged?  Is that too much history tied to a silly evening gown?

Ok, because I live in a world of conspiracies and unicorns I have to ask: what if there is no company dinner and it's just an excuse to get all dolled up for an amazing night out?

Either way, my gut tells me you're right and something very interesting is about to happen.

@jhpi:  Thank you so much for the sweet compliment.  But if I can't get the 15 pounds off, that dress can't come out of the closet again!  I'm going to try like heck!

@catlady:  It's perfectly fine to be in league w/unicorns and conspiracy theories imho. It could happen like that.  But, we've been to events at that ballroom before and it's be wierd if two people had that entire ballroom to themselves.  But..there could be..maybe not at the entire ballroom.  This group he's with is doing something else too for the holidays.  They're serving a wonderful holiday dinner to families out of work and those in need and after having a partners' dinner (no spouses just the business partners) a week or so earlier.  Apparently this group has alot of outings and events.

Glad you have confidence I can do it JW!  I'm gonna try.  I think it's kind of serendipity if I wore it. Then again, this is a new relationship and that dress has a story of the past associated with it.  A powerful one.

Oh well.  I can try and if I'm meant for another dress, I will somehow find it!  Either way I'll go for the dieting gold and see what I can do!

Any ideas on getting 15 lbs off in five weeks?

Heck in my college days I could do that in a NY minute.  We had to be at a certain weight each friday before a weigh-in (I was a tigerette and featured twirler) and we couldn't perform at the football games or basketball games if we didn't make weight.

hmm, cut out all candy, junk food, and soda if you haven't already. Supposedly dropping the soda, even diet, really makes people take the weight off. Doesnt Special K promise to make you loose weight if you eat if every day or something? I could be wrong. Smaller portion sizes, but more frequent healthy snacks. Cardio exercise at least 3 times a week. I'm not sure of anything special really, just those usual tips. No fads or purging or anything like that. oh, and get sleep! The body needs at least 8 hours a nigh. Getting less can cause weight gain :)

@ArizonaBride:  Thanks.  I do love that dress.  I hated to have to seal it and put it away.  I also love the sea glass necklace too.  I've never seen anybody wear it either.  Came from Cache.

@JW:  Aw...no junk food?  I guess I can just try like heck to remember how I did it and how I distracted myself back in the day when I could lose stuff like maybe five lbs in a week...

I did tons of cardio.  Not alot of carbs, etc.

I'm off to run now.  Beautiful day here!  I've had a bit of stress at work and some sleep interruptions I can attest.  (on call stuff and a mean, vicious coworker).

maybe a little junk food lol If you TOTALLY deprive yourself, then you'll end up binging. Just try opting for the "healthier" junk food, like gold fish crackers instead of dorritos lol

First of all: You are one smokin' hot mama! That blue dress looks incredible. 15lbs in 5 weeks is a totally healthy loss & it's possible! 3lbs a week :) You can do it!!! Don't eat after 7 & drink tons and tons of water. It always works for me.

When you get engaged I'm going to party in your honor! Your engagement is the one I've been waiting for since I joined the hive :)

Hugs to all of you!  I'm a mama, that's right and I have the hips to prove it!  lol!

@Recessionistabride:  You're too sweet for words.  That means so much to me!  If I can do 15, I'll be jumping for you, ring or not!

Did I mention to any of you that I'm smack middle in a bet wtih my sister?  We're having a contest to see who can lose the most before NYE!  She's doing it because she said that it would be "sad" if the matron of honor is skinnier than the bride next summer and our friendly jabs at one another brought this silly thing on!  So I guess just have to win it!

Here's one dress that is totally me, in the budget, and would work for a short dress.  I'm headed to Nordstrom in 3 weeks (will try to have at least 10 off by then).

Do you all like this one?  A bright hot pink is also a good color for me.

Love the dress and the story that goes with it. It would kind of be a "full circle" moment, in a way. I love when those happen :) But man, 15 lb in a little more than a month? Gah pressure! Just keep your eye on the (potential) prize aka *The Ring* and the weight should melt off. Can't wait to log in on Dec 13!!

Well...he's had PLENTY of kick himself moments imho.  Perfect days to do so.  And they've fluttered by.

We'll see.  Again, it depends probably on whether he wishes to have it be just us alone or with several other couples at the large event.  But there is always a before the event and an after the event too!  I'd just love it to happen that day..

I have to say.  With all the missed perfect days, I refuse to get my hopes up on any specific day.  Seriously.  I know we're going to get engaged soon, but I cannot let myself down anymore if it doesn't happen.  He does know if he doesn't do it soon that summer won't happen (for me that is) and he may find out a new year is a really lonely one.

15 pounds or not - I know you are going to look amazing that night. Like Corgi said, regardless of the ring it's going to be a very special night for you two. Special days/nights are what are relationships are made of!

I wish you the absolute best that night, you have a wonderful time and connect with your future husband!! :)

That's so sweet.  Trust me, it was a good night that one.  I'd gone to get my hair done, nails done, and it was on a weekend where my x had my son (he got married within 2 days so he couldn't take him with him on the honeymoon or for the wedding).  That was why I cried at midnight a little btw.

Ya'll are sooo sweet!  I may try Atkins but just kinda am stopping the whole eating more thing.  I walked/ran 2 miles this evening too.  Will do so tomorrow also.  I have been guilty earlier this week of munching down on halloween candy that my son didn't eat.  Yea, that was courtesy of the upset stuff from the crazy and mean coworker.  But I've given it up!

Tomorrow is the 9th.  It's the 12th I think of December so it's barely over a month away!  We'll see what I can do!

We have been in that ballroom before.  For Mothers' Day.  He took us there for my special day and got me a dozen roses before.  We had an amazing brunch there!  It was so pretty!  Food was good and was Wolfgang Puck.

It's a gorgeous ballroom but you'd seriously have to have a really large wedding to fill that huge space up.  I think it can be subdivided though.  But it's so pretty having all the walls open up to the aquariums though.  It's breathtaking seeing the whale sharks go by on one wall and seeing the adorable beluga whales on another one!

I just don't want it to be another Jamaica where I get bummed because it would be so perfect.  Plus our anniversary is the 27th of Dec.  So many holidays/events so close that it's almost maddening right now.  Just trying to kinda let it simmer down and not be a real "thing" if the ring doesn't happen ya know?
