We had a free flu shot clinic at work today. I was down in the conference room (with thankfully only about a dozen coworkers waiting), getting mine when the nurse remarked “Wow, you’re a bleeder! You’re bleeding like a stuck pig!”. Of course I look down where I see blood pouring out of my arm….and pass out. A coworker caught me, and they called our medics and I’m fine, I just have a really bruised ego.
I’ve never had problems with shots or donating blood before (I don’t like it, but I don’t pass out, I’ve only gotten lightheaded), so this was quite a shock. Anyone have any similar stories?

Oh no! Glad you’re okay though!
I donated blood one morning at a drive at work and then had my annual OBGYN appointment that afternoon. At the OBGYN appointment, I almost passed out when I stood up after the exam (got really light-headed and dizzy and laid myself right back down). I ended up being there an extra 45 minutes or so, just laying in the exam room, so they could make sure I was okay.

I’ve given blood 3 times. Twice I have passed out and additional time (before getting anywhere near a needle) I burst into tears. I know your pain.

Sometimes blood gets me, and sometimes it doesn’t. I did fine getting blood drawn a few months ago, but when I cut my finger on a can and it started bleeding a couple weeks ago… down I went!
I’m sorry to hear your flu shot didn’t go well; at least it’s over now. I’d rather have your experience than get the flu, anyway! 🙂

It’s very common.
I use use to faint when I’d get my blood drawn. I think I finally go over it but I still get nervous.
