AH! Ladies!
He did it!
You may or may not have read my previous threads. If you haven't, I apologize if this doesn't make much sense. I was just thinking earlier today I really ought to just consolidate all my waiting updates into one. But that was before my fiance (woo!) proposed (woo!).
Sorry if this is kind of convoluted-- I am still trying to think straight! Anyway, he wanted to go look at venues today, so last night we made a list of all the places we might want to get married. Later in the evening, we discovered that the community college where we'd met was actually available as a venue, so we added it to the list. He asked where I wanted to go first and I put the college last. We went to all these other places, hiking up and down the trails in the hills through all these parks, and finally made it to the college. On Thursday, we had realized that today was two years since the day we met.
So we get there. It must have been torture for him to wait patiently and act normal all morning. I had suspected maybe something might be going on because he seemed really fumbly when we left the house; forgot to lock the door, then tried to lock the inside door instead of the security door, etc. But I also thought if he did it, it would be at our first stop, one of my favorite places in San Diego.
He is a crafty, crafty man. He had suggested we bring our camera and tripod to take pictures of us in each place so we could look back at them later to help us make our decision. He'd have me stand in front of it and set up the shot, then put on the timer and run to take the picture with me.
So when nothing happened at our first stop, or the next few, I just decided, oh well, not today. And then I didn't really think anything of it when we got to the college and went up to one of the gardens by the classroom where we met, found a pretty arch, and set up the camera. I did, however, tell him to hurry up because I had to pee. To which he responded, go pee then! So I did.
When I got back, he set up the shot, asked me if I was ready, and pushed the button, but this time, he didn't run over to me. He walked. As he walked, he told me (these are the parts I remember, haha) that we met two years ago today and he loves me, and will I be his wife, and got down on one knee. He'd been hiding the ring in a paper towel in his pocket.
I couldn't stop laughing, I was so in disbelief that it was actually happening! I just kept thinking, this is real. It's real now, we're going to get married. And I remembered to say yes! Then we kissed for like five minutes, and he told me we were on video-- he'd recorded the whole thing!
I was laugh-crying for like twenty minutes, and I'm still grinning like a fool when I look down at my hand. It wasn't any of the proposals I had imagined in my mind a thousand times, but it could not have been more perfect.
The best part? I think we're getting married there, too!
My ring is gorgeous! I can't believe how well it came out! I think the center stone is 1.5-2 carats, though I'm still not sure-- turns out none of our paperwork has the weight on it. It's an aquamarine, but it's really hard to tell it's blue at all in some light (which is what we were going for). Here she is, my/our precious:

Thanks for your support while I was waiting, ladies. Weddingbee has been a lifesaver! I can't wait to use it for *actually* planning my wedding.
I do have some more (better) pics but my fiance (woo!) has them captive right now and he's sleeping. I just wanted to get this out there, and I'll post more soon :)
To all the waiting bees: I hope it happens for you soon!

@ Abbee-- Yes, we've watched it like 40 times, haha. It's hard to see my face as the camera was about twenty feet away, but you can see me freeze when I realize what's going on :)
Clever, clever boy. I love how your ring looks from the side, very pretty. :)
