Alright ladies, I’m really frustrated right now. I went dress shopping again yesterday and I feel like I don’t know what I want. I definitely want a style that is most flattering on me. Most of the group loved me in a ball gown, which I love. I love ruffles, I love poof, I love the princessy look. Some of the group loved me in a more softer mermaid type style – not the style that cuts and poofs at the bottom, but just more of a softer flare. I tried on an all lace scoop neck corset back dress that had a slight mermaid flare. I thought it was really flattering – actually, almost everyone did. But no one was “wowed” by the dress and the lace was really ugly and everyone said it looked like a tablecloth. None of us could get past that. I asked them if they had something else similar, but with nicer lace and they couldn’t think of anything.
I’m just torn between the look I want. Ball gown? Ruffles? Lace? Mermaid? Fitted? Princessy? Classy? Elegant? I don’t know!
I think I’m going to go again and try on different things, but in the meantime – what do you ladies thing?
Ignore my facial expressions, just because I’m smiling or not smiling doesn’t mean that I like/don’t like the dress.
Maggie Sottero (with and without straps):
I think I’m also frustrated bc I’m trying to find something that’s going to be flattering on me now, but I am really hating the way I look. I feel really “fat” in all the dresses and like I’m looking to find a dress that will cover me as much as possible. I wonder if I lose the weight I hope to lose and get back to the way I was before, what style would I be looking for? I don’t even know! I want something that is flattering now, but will be flattering when I lose weight, too.

I think all three look beautiful on you! The Maggie Sottero gives you a teeny tiny waist, so if “most flattering” is most important to you, I’d pick that one. But honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of these.

@futuremrsk18: I voted for the Maggie without straps – have you got a bigger picture you can post? I think though you should carry on looking as I don’t think you’ve fallen in love with any of them.

I love the Maggie w/ straps on you! Ballgowns def look more flattering on you opposed to the middle one.

Maggie is BEAUTIFUL on you. seriously wow

@KatieBklyn: Thank you!
@CatyLady: I’m trying to get one – my FMIL took it and I’m waiting for her to email me the bigger version.
The Maggie actually comes with a beautiful bolero-ish top, but I didn’t see it or get to try it on.

The Maggie for sure is the most flattering to your figure.
I find the Paloma adds a lot of bulk through your hips.
The Oleg is not flattering in my opinion, but I think another slim fitting may fit differently. This is my least favourite.
The Maggie makes your waist look small, and overall is very flattering. I personally prefer it with the straps as it balances out the bottom.

I would recommend doing another dress shopping trip but alone, no entourage! Or pick only the person who truly understands your style, as not everyone does. Who in your life has commented the most positively on your favorite outfits? That is the person who can help you narrow down, fwiw The ball gown silhouette works best on you, but you totally rock an off shoulder look. So look for a ball gown that has the Oleg Cassini like neckline

@andielovesj: Interesting, I really felt like the Maggie added bulk and was too poofy for me and the Paloma didn’t. See why I’m confused? lol I don’t think I see myself the way others do!

All three are really pretty, but I think you should keep looking and exploring your options if you still don’t have “the feeling”. I really like the ruffly buttom of the Paloma Blanca, but I think the tops of the Oleg Cassini and Maggie are more flattering. The ballgown is my favorite sillouhette on you, so I’d try on more ballgowns next time.

Definitely the Maggie! You look amazing.

@MrsN14: +1. I don’t like the middle one at all. The bottom one, followed by the top one are my favourites. The middle dress looks like a different person.

The first one and the last one without the straps are the best imo.
FWIW, I felt fat in everything I tried on too, so I tried on a bunch of stuff to try and cover the areas that made me uncomfortable ( mostly my shoulders/arms ). When I went back and looked at all of the pictures my FSIL took, the dresses with more coverage actually drew attention to my shoulders/arms. I felt like I looked like a football player.
I ended up going with a strapless A line that I found at a local consignment shop, brand new never been worn. It’s worth stopping by and taking a look.

@futuremrsk18: I prefer the Paloma on you. It’s a lovely dress and I feel it suits your body best, and you look comfortable in it.

I like the Maggie on you (without the straps). I think it is the most flattering on you- it makes your waist tiny and gives you a nice figure. I would do another shopping trip with that silhouette in mind.
