Went dress shopping with my mom, sister-in-law and FMIL last night. Was lots of fun and really exciting. I’ve lost over 130lbs in the past few years, so the experience of being able to just go in and try on samples was amazing, and probably one of the things I feared the most pre-weight loss.
We shopped at White Toronto. It’s an upscale salon, with mostly designer dresses. Pre-shopping I had a full blown Jenny Packham obsession, and although I love them, they just didn’t give me the look I’d imagined. They’re a bit too relaxed for our wedding, but seeing them was amazing, they’re so gorgeous. Here I am in a couple of the Jenny’s: (ps pics are huge, sorry, I’m a newb)
However, my most fav so far was completely different than what I had originally thought I’d want. I originally had said lots of lace or beading, and this has none…
But anyone who’s seen Monique Lhullier’s Peony in Blush knows how magical that fabric was… I’m not ready to commit yet, but I can’t stop looking at this pic!
I love how it made me feel, I love that the colour is unique, etc. I’m a bit nervous that it’s not as… different as others, but I know I could accesorize it well. Biggest challenge would be figuring out what shoulder covering I’d use during our Jewish Ceremony.
What do you guys think?

@AngieLuvsAdam: I like the last one best, although it’d be easier to tell with a pic from a different angle. I think you’re right to keep looking and congrats on the weight loss!

That last dress is SUPER flattering on you!

The last one looks absolutely stunning on you.

@AngieLuvsAdam: Congratulations on the weight loss! Those are lovely dresses, each one has wonderful elements. I’d suggest that you keep looking – enjoy the process!!

@AngieLuvsAdam: The Monique Lhullier one is gorgeous! And seems to fit your body super well! And I think the fact that you can’t stop looking at the photo says it all 🙂

@mchitt329: Thanks! Yeah – even if it is THE dress, I think I need to keep trying on more to get a taste of what I’m really into! The angle is bad because the shop technically doesn’t allow pics – but our consultant was amazing.
@nordicbride2014: thanks – me too! I wish I liked the fit on me better, it is a bit too low and too cleavage-y. The design itself though I lurv.
@snowbeastly: thank you girl! when I look at that I can’t believe it’s me, it looks like some grown up bride!!

@megz06: you’re so sweet! thanks!
@Astra: thank you! it was crazy hard work but to have this as part of the out-come… much better than any victory on the sale!
@Bri1o: thank you so much! yeah I love that even though it’s strapless it has high sides so I don’t feel too naked in it!

You are standing differently in the last one so it’s hard to tell, but I think it’s the most flattering on you. It looks pretty. I’m not a big fan of the first two though.

@Pinkmoon: thanks – yeah the angle is more flattering in the third pic, but I’m with you for the first two – I loved the designs but NOT on me!

I personally like the last one. I say keep looking and see what else is out there. I found my dress at the second shop I visited (I went to 4 shops) but going to other stores really confirmed it for me. If one of these dresses is still on your mind, it’s worth a second visit!

Please choose the last one of a style like it… I think the first one DEFINETLY hides your body… and you didnt lose 130lb for that. I think you stick to styles like the last one.

@AngieLuvsAdam: That Monique L dress is stunning on you 🙂

@mrspizanotobe: thanks! yeah I’ve got enough time to keep exploring, but I wouldn’t be surpirsed if this was the winner! My best friend/MOH is coming home in a couple weeks and we’re gonna shop together – I couldn’t settle on a dress without showing her first!
@Mrs_O: You’re so sweet! Now that I’ve seen myself in the more body-conscious dresses I think I’ll definitely be choosing one!
@NekoKitten: Thank you! I love her… Such dreamy styles!
Ooh tip for busty brides – I was convinced the monique l dresses wouldn’t work cause they have built in-cups in a lot of the styles, but I was able to pack my 36DDs in!
