Im in HELL!!!!! I started menopause
I started missing periods and then the hot flashes came and if that isnt enough, Im killing my FI with the cool air in the house because of the night sweats. He is wearing head to toe sweats and Im dying of hot flashes and night sweats, and the absolute worst is I have gained 25 pounds since all this started, as if all the other crap isnt enough I am now overweight….really?
My hormones are out of whack….and if I hear one more person say “your to young to be having menopause,” I might scream or better yet when they say, “well you dont have to worry about a period anymore,” Nope I just have to worry about fitting into my clothes because now I have a fat ass, great trade off!!!
The doctor says with some Hormone Replacement Therapy I should go back to normal but it could be a while before Im straightened out.
I dont care about not having children because FI and I have children and we both had measures taken to ensure that we both dont cause pregnancy. However I really hate leaving the bed in the middle of the night and going to the back porch and falling asleep outside in the cold because Im burning up and sweating.
Thank you Mother Nature..
End of rant…Thank you for listening.

My best friend has been going through this for about 2 years now… she just turned 42, so yeah, early menopause sucks. Thankfully, like you, she’s not interested in having any more children (had her daughter at 18), but she’s struggling with the hot flashes, and inability to lose weight too.
Poise (yes… the people who brought you those awkward “I pee myself commercials”) makes a line of menopause relief products which include a cooling gel… might be worth a look.
You might also try lotion with peppermint oil.

Oh yuck….you know, Brookstone carries a dual controlled, heating/cooling mattress pad…for those ever dreaded night time “personal summers”…that thing has saved more than a few lives of ladies that I love..also, Otter Pops are an excellent option for a quick cool down, get up, grab one and stand there in the loving coolness of an open freezer, in which you have also stored a batter operated hand fan, and chill yourself out.
It gets better, hang tough lady!

Sorry to hear you’re going through this so early. I’m not sure how old you are, but my mom started at age 45. It seems that women are going through this younger and younger these days. I know that doesn’t help, but at least you know you’re not alone.

@TexasSpringBride: Oh wow…your FI is either brave or stupid…I would say, “I’m going to either stand here until I cool off, or rely on the arterial spray from your neck to do the job after I rip out your larynx..your choice of course…”

@Nona99: He is absolutely oblivious, honestly…he doesnt understand how I can still be hot when its 50 degres in the house already. The poor man doesnt know what to do. He tried to cuddle me the other night to make me feel better and all he got was a low growl with the words, touch me and die you bastard, cause I was burning up from the inside.
I told him you cant hold me or talk to me when Im having a hot flash.
He now understands, he hasnt said it, but im pretty sure he thinks Im crazy.
