I don’t know about you guys, but I have been posting on this board since April 2012 when October 2013 was 16 months away.
Now we’re FOUR! FOUR MONTHS away. We’re 4 away from being the month that is all busy getting married.
I felt silly posting on here 16 months ago, as though this was a lifetime away. Now we’re right around the corner. SQUEE!

AHHHH someone at work last night said “So you’re 4 months out, are you pretty much done with everything?” I just stared at them lol.

@Nurse_Bee: <guilty look> Want help? I finished everything I could do 2 months ago! All I need now is the remaining money to pay the back end of the deposits!
@MrsFutureG: I need help making up my mind! I feel like I am not set in stone on a lot of things and that is what drives me the most crazy. I think I finally settled on wedding colors though: navy, coral, blush and white/silver. And I am not doing the very popular vintage/rustic look but it’s also not modern. Maybe classic/romantic? See what I mean? lol

@Nurse_Bee: Ok, we can do this! What is your venue? Do you have that yet? This is what the bee is for! Start small. Do you know what you want for centerpieces or flowers? You should think about that and build around that idea.

@Nurse_Bee: i get this all the time. i think its mostly from people who have never planned a wedding. i’m usually like, “the big stuff, yeah” and smile at them. they have no idea. haha

AHHH I’m so excited!!! I still have to order linens (we’re buying instead of renting) but we need to wait to see how much we’ll need! That’s the last “big” thing left… I think.
It is so crazy! I feel like this time is going to FLY by. Is that good or bad? Probably depends 🙂
Big stuff left:
- -Make-up artist
- -Flower girl dress
- -Suit for FI and BM (he is procrastinating)
- -Wedding bands
- -Finish writing ceremony
Little things (but there are a lot):
- -Tablecloth for dinner (we are doing one, long table, so this has been a challenge)
- -Wedding jewelry
- -Getting ready attire
- -Bowtie for our pup/ringbearer
- -Flower girl basket
- -Gifts for parents
- -Determine ceremony music
- -Order marriage license
- -Need a few more vintage plates
- -Paper items (menus, placecards, personalized crossword)
- -Finalize game table selections
- -Buy favors (chocolate cigars)
- -Get pie plates
- -Figure out wine pairings
- -Make playlist for dinner (frank sinatra, etc.)
- -Send invites (considering a calligrapher, I found a good one over the weekend)

I’ve been engaged since September 2010, though we didn’t start planning until July 2012, so part of me can’t believe there is only 4 months left but the other part of me is SO ready for it to be here!

@MrsFutureG: I actually do have the centerpieces and everything pretty much set up. This makes me feel better. I am getting married at a county club/golf course and I will post some pictures. I think I am going to end up hiring a design company to help tie everything together. Here is what I have:
- Florist (centerpieces through her)
- Going to sign the contract for a draped gazebo instead of ceiling draping Thursday
- Chiavari chairs
- My dress/veil
- BM dresses
Things I still need to do:
- Decide on a sort of “theme” to get things cohesive looking
- Little odds and ends like the card holder, place cards, garter, ring bearer pillow, etc…
- Make final decisions on tuxes (may do that today)
- Decide whether or not to use DJ for ceremony or find a musician
- Accessories for myself/BMs including a bolero
- Ummm get in better shape LOL
Maybe I do have more together than I thought I did! This makes me feel way better!
As far as a DJ for the ceremony, would that be okay? I deifnitely want strings to be played during the ceremony and cocktail hour so I wanted to make a Vitamin String Quartet playlist for him to go through, but do you think that is cheesy to have a DJ play strings? Or should I just spring for the musicians? There is a local college of music that I think I could get strings for a fairly decent price (though more than the DJ) but I am just so worried about the flakiness of being a college student. I guess I could always just have the DJ play if they don’t show…
Am I forgetting anything? Do you like the sounds of my colors?

I know how you feel! We got engaged 18 months ago. I’m so excited it’s getting so close 🙂 I love seeing it all start to come together.

@Nurse_Bee: Sorry, internet was down so I had to wait to do this at work. Shhh. 😉
You’re definitely on track! Doesn’t a list make things seem a bit more in place? You might want to check out weddingwire.com, they have a great checklist option which’ll help put it all in one place. This way if you are forgetting something, it’ll guide you.
Our “theme” is blue and silver. You don’t really need something obvious to tie it all together unless you have your heart set on something. If you can’t think of one, don’t worry, no one else will notice.
For the DJ, that’s totally up to you. One really great piece of advice I got when I began planning was to make a list of what is the most important to you. Things you won’t compromise on (for me it was venue, officiant, photographer, music) and the things that you care about. After that, just let it happen. For example, I had about a 2 week period when I was freaking out about chair covers, until I realized that they weren’t important when I began, why should they matter so much now? So when you began, did you set out hoping for a string quartet or just beautiful music? I think that should be the basis of your decision. We are doing strings, but we have a DJ who is playing stringed music. If you can get a good deal on both though, think about if it really matters to you.
Remember, the things people will probably remember: How beautiful everyone looked, the love in the room, if the food was good and if they had a good time. People may notice the details, but aside from people you’ll never please completely, no one will be taking mental notes of “flaws” of the day.
I do like your colors! Perhaps what you should do now is take stock of what you have purchased (flowers included) and pick that as your primary color. If you want, take a second complimentary color from the ones you listed and perhaps add on silver as an accent color, just as sort of a connecting color.
Is this helping at all?

@Nurse_Bee: I’m planning on using a DJ for the ceremony and having him play VSQ. I don’t think it’s cheesy. Most of the weddings I’ve been to use DJ’s for the ceremony.

@Nurse_Bee: I’ve been getting this from people, too. And we’re having a fairly short engagement (about 8.5 months), so we’re just about halfway through. Umm, no, we’re not done.
I feel like we have so much left to do! But we sent out our save the dates (my fiance made a great video that everyone seems to love) and booked our honeymoon two days ago. That was a really productive day! Now to just do everything else, lol.

@CurlyTop24: Booking the honeymoon was the best part so far! How horrible is it that I’m more looking forward to 10/14 (when we leave) than 10/13? 😛
