@futuremrs.martin - that's exactly what I was thinking! If we have the venue that we love AND can afford all set, I dont think I will be as anxious for the ring because I already know it's coming sometime in the next few months. I'm just afraid someone else is going to snatch up our venue on OUR date!
So I have a question for you ladies who had things actually booked before a ring... did you tell people? I don't think I could resist telling people once we had a place/date and that'd be hard if there was no ring yet I think!
i actually dont have a hard time not telling anyone about the pre-ring planning..it is kind of fun having ti as our own little secret for now
@lovehim- maybe I just have a really big mouth! :) It has been RIDICULOUSLY hard not to tell my mom that I know my guy has a ring... but I really don't want to ruin the surprise (also, I'm worried that she'd slip up and let him know that I know/knew).
@corgi....my friends/family know we talk wedding talk, but I dont think I would want to share with them that we are going to check out a venue before it's official. I dont want to get anybody's hopes up and/or hear any possibly negative opinions about it. (not that I think they would think it's a bad idea, I'd just rather not tell).
But like someone else mentioned...it will be our own little secret to share until we are official.
On the other hand, if we totally fall in love with this place and want to BOOK it, I may share that development with my mom. (especially since she's the one that plans to pay for the venue).
@bunny- that makes sense :) I guess it might be different if my bf actually knew that i knew he had a ring and was making movement on this soon haha. I just want him to do it already so we can plan for REAL!
Eek!! I would go NUTS if I knew my bf actually HAD the ring in his possession, corgi!
That is super exciting!! I am engaged and I can't get my FI to go look at places yet. But I'm getting there. This week maybe. But I'm not holding my breath! So, congrats!

we LOVED it! The food was delicious, the decor was neutral, the facilities were clean, their bar was well stocked, and the grounds were beautiful! so excited!!
oh awesome!!!! i'm glad that you both enjoyed your secret rendevous with the venue (doesn't it sound awesomely romantic?!) this way the two of you got to see the venue without all the hoopla from your moms, etc... it was just the two of you....
exactly! no one even knows we went...well, except for one of my closest friends. other than that, it was our own secret little rendevous! :)
oh how cool!!!!! i betcha y'all will be able to bring the moms soon enough!!! he sounds so excited and cute!!

So, like all of you, I'm playing "the waiting game" when it comes to the actual proposal. Here's a little background info: The bf and I have talked in length about our wedding plans....rings, church, venue, colors, parties, even the date, etc. Basically, we have everything planned out, just waiting on him to make it "official." haha. However, we're in somewhat of a rough spot financially, so even though he has the money saved up, he's hesitant to spend it right now. (I totally understand, but it's still frustrating!!)
So yesterday we were talking wedding talk, and my bf and I decided that we are going to check out a venue the first weekend of October! I'm SO excited. The place I am interested in appears to be perfect for us...the food sounds good, the pricing is affordable, the reception room is beautiful....so I've pretty much stopped researching other places. So we're going to check it out and go to their monthly brunch to taste the food to ensure it's THE ONE. (The food is SUPER important to me. We're huuuge foodies.)
