CUTE! ha. My first inclination would be "maybe" she's preggo, but we already know that's not true on the boards! I think it sounds awesome tho!
I personally love the idea! Intimate weddings can be as elegant as you wanna go
i absolutely love it! our attempt at semi-eloping has now turned into a vegas wedding with 60 guest. i'm trying my hardest to trim the fat because fi and i both wanted a small intimate wedding. a black-tie elopement sounds AMAZING! where are yall going?
i'd be totally content with 25 at this point :-) what chapel are you using?
We're going to San Francisco City Hall and getting married in the rotunda. (That's not us in the rotunda) and it's elopement, elopement. We're not telling anyone other than the four guests, and will be sending out wedding announcements the day we move to Europe for a year. Yeah, we're moving one week after the wedding! So essentially this means FI's mom will be screaming over the United States, the Atlantic Ocean, and half of Europe and we'll be blissfully safe from her wrath by the grace of distance.
oh my goodness that place is BEAUTIFUL! it sounds like you've hatched up the perfect plan....i'm envious!
Bella- I picked the Graceland partly as a joke, but then I liked the sign out front; I was thinking 'pictures!' 25 does not include crashers- we are not paying for dinner and thought that would deter folks. Not so much! We sent out 25 invites, but anyone who wants an excuse to go to Vegas mentions 'swinging by' for the ceremony! It's all kind of nuts, but doesn't affect MY budget (I just need a rough headcount for dinner), so it's all good!
Congratulations, cheerful! My fiance and I are having a ceremony at sf city hall, too, and I have a technical question for you. How did you manage to secure the Rotunda officially when you made your ceremony appointment? I haven't booked ours yet, as we're not getting married until next March, and you can't book anything until max 90 days before, as I'm sure you know.
Also, everywhere on the CH's website it says that you CANNOT request the Rotunda, a couple will only end up with it if it's available, otherwise you have to use their "chapel." Did they tell you when you made your appointment if the Rotunda will officially be available for your time slot? I've been having visions of them not telling me if we can use it or not until we show up!
They haven't said we definitely have the rotunda. When we asked, the county clerk said that it is almost always available unless there's a city function happening there. It basically gives them an 'out' in case a foreign dignitary shows up, you know? The county clerk was really nice and showed us the chapel too, which is quite pretty as well. If you book your ceremony for a time they are unlikely to have another function, I don't see it being a problem. You can always ask them if they know of a potential conflict. Congrats by the way - I love the venue :-).
Oh my gosh I LOVE the idea of a black tie elopement!!!! That may be the best thing I have ever read on weddingbee - no anywhere!
How cool to be invited to a black tie elopement! And btw, my best friend is a German guy too!!!
That's really sweet! I love that idea and think you'll have a blast!
Wow... SF city hall is GORGEOUS!! :)
I love that you're truly eloping & keeping it a secret from everyone but your 4 guests! Congratulations & have fun!

My MOH (my German best guy friend) has been telling some of his work colleagues that he'll be going to an elopement in a couple weeks and they're confused that he's purchased a custom tux for it, that he'll be going to the bachelor party, that he's organizing a rehearsal dinner. "Elopement" apparently conjures up too many ideas of white cotton sun dresses and hasty bouquets. (and then of course there was the friend who thought we were evading the law...) So now, we've decided our tuxedo/wedding-dress/formal dinner elopement will henceforth be called the "black-tie elopement." :-) Sound good? Does it make sense? You wouldn't think the bride's pregnant?
