BF and I have been discussing at length our wedding, life, children, etc. He recently told me that he thought it would be a good idea to go back to the jewelry store we found my favorite ring at to review it again and get this show on the road. Well I wanted to speak with the private jewler my brother-in-law used to make my sisters ring because I wanted to review ALL of my options before committing to something in particular.
Well guess what! We are meeting with the private jeweler tomorrow night and this is getting seriously real! I am soo excited about this. 🙂 We will meet with him and I will be showing him my inspiration photos, showing him the rings that I liked at the jewelry store and giving him more insite into what I want. He said he would even stop into the jewelry store to look at what I like and see how it is made. I was really impressed by how willing his was to go to that level since the store is not on near where he lives and he is willing to do his research.
I can’t believe you guys! Were going to be getting freaking engaged soon. The choice is between the jeweler and and the jewelry store. Any personal stories or suggestions you guys have about why you went one way or another? How long does it take to have a ring specifically made for you? Ahh sooo excited!

I’m pretty positive that my guy doesn’t want my input with the ring. I have a whole bookmarks folder of rings I love from pricescope and I’m pretty sure he’s seen it, so I think that’s all the help he’s planning on getting. It would be so fun to go through the process together!
I think 6-8 weeks is fairly typical for having a ring made. So basically, you’re probably definitely going to be engaged before Christmas! How cool is that??

Oh wow, I’m sharing in your excitement vicariously! You’re going to have so much fun, and your waiting will soon be over. WooHoo!
My guy and I have browsed in a couple mall stores, but I have sent him links to several rings that are my top picks. He can make the final decision out of those, but I just wanted to make sure he knows my preferred styles and color of gold choice. Congrats and have a great time ring shopping!!!!!!

BF has pretty much said that he would just rather I pick it out because I have to wear it and he knows how picky I am and he wants me to love it.
The differances between a jeweler and a jewelry store are actually alot more than I thought they would be like the fact that paying a private jeweler means no financing and paying the full amount upfront but with a private jeweler means you get so much more for your money without the markup. I’m really excited to see what our budget affords us.
I’m secretly hoping I’m engaged by my birthday which is the 5th of December. Ohh goodness. I don’t feel nearly as stuck anymore 🙂
@littlemissmango: If 6 to 8 week is typical then I can handle that. I think I can stick it out!
@AudzinLuv: Thank you! I think as long as he has an idea he should get fairly close! I hope yours comes soon!

Oh, this is so exciting!
My boyfriend told me that things are taking so long because he can’t find anything he likes. When preparing me for a proposal to be more delayed he said custom work takes between 4 and 6 weeks. So go pick out that ring!

Congrats!! That’s so exciting! We used a jeweler. My FI ordered my ring at the end of March and it came mid-May. So you’re probably looking at between 4 – 8 weeks. I wasn’t really involved in the discussions with the jeweler – but my FI got lots of input and pictures from me. Its so great to know a trusted jeweler who’s willing to put in the time and effort. If you can find something that’s perfect at a jewelery store, then go for it. But it’s pretty special to have something made just specially for you.
Good luck and be sure to post pictures when it happens!!
