Oh yay! Congratulations! I love hounds! They're fantastic dogs. As far as crate training goes, start short and go slow. Also, don't let him out if he's whining - only when he's calm and quiet. Good luck with your new pup! He's adorable!
What a sweet sad face - Love it and congrats to you for the new addition to the family!
@caitlanc: Thanks so much! That's a really good tip and I'll be sure to use it.
@Dragonsus: Haha, I love the hound look. "Look at my droopy face. How about some food to cheer me up?"

So it's official...we're adopting a dog that some friends has had to give up (because of a move)! I used to live with these friends and during that time, this dog and I really bonded. When I moved away I never thought I'd see him again (they live wayyy far away) and now he's going to live with us!!!
He's an adult male hound mix--but very calm and people-oriented. He's about 5. We are going to do crate training for him--any thoughts on crate-training an adult dog?
And of course, a photo....
I'm so excited!
