We got engaged when I was 20, and though he knew I liked pave bands, he wanted to propose sooner and get a pave band later. I’m almost 23 now and the wedding is in September of next year. I always thought we’d get the pave band for a milestone wedding anniversary, but I got to thinking about it more, and it would mean a lot to me to have my forever ring be the one he puts on me at the wedding, and the one my kids will be able to recognize in pictures.
I wanted to have a game plan before I brought it up, so I found a few I liked that are in a reasonable price range and then brought it up (nervously – I didn’t want to hurt his feelings in any way!!), and he agreed! We are going to try to order it in January, after the holidays and after we get settled after our move.
Here’s my current ring/setting:
And here’s the setting I would love to change to:
(obviously that’s not my hand lol)
I LOVE it because the new setting has the “swoop” thing, similar to my original setting, plus the sparkle factor and those three diamonds on the profile! Love it.
What do you ladies think? 🙂 Also, does anyone know how much it costs in labor to pay a jeweler to put my stone in a semi-mount?

@208bride: It’s lovely!! I don’t think it would be too expensive- maybe two hours of labour?

I think it’s very pretty!

I had my diamond set into my new setting and it was $180.00.

@Inlove2001: Wow! That’s a little more than I was anticipating for labor, but it’ll be worth it 🙂

@208bride: It’s gorgeous, but dont forget you wont be able to see the profile (aka the surprise diamonds) once you’re wearing your wedding band.

@IheartUFC: I thought about that 🙁 It makes me sad! I’m entertaining not getting a band at all and doing the e-ring thing only, but I haven’t yet decided.

@IheartUFC: her’s might be on both sides, so, she can’t see it from her side, but other people will see it on the side her wedding bands not on.
I have surprise stones and everyone sees them right away @208bride. I think thenew setting Is gorgeous! I like the “swoop” design too, it looks like you just added some extra elements to your old band 🙂 I’be never had a ring reset, but I wish you luck and can’t wait to see pictures!
