That's incredibly great news! Now just sit back and think zen thoughts..relax...the ring is on the way!
Your jeweler sounds like a keeper too. That was very honest of them to get you a much more substantial setting for the same price.
Keep us updated and congrats in advance (although when it does happen, I expect a pic ok??? :) )
Hahaha I am so not zen. I don't even know where to begin finding zen, but I'll try!
I have only heard good things about our jeweler, which is why we went there. I had a specific design in mind (a solitaire, but with a swirly kind of twist to it) - and every place we visited said it would have to be custom made. This jeweler had a few options available to us at a MUCH better price. I think we are in good hands.
There will be many pictures! I promise :D
Zen for me:
a nice walk at the greenbelt with my ipod off.
cup of tazo herb tea
sleeping 8 hours...which I rarely get to do.
chocolate cupcakes. (no wait, that's my PMS remedy!!! lol!)
Yay can't wait to see them! Once i tried on a few rings, I was just like, enamored by how having a diamond engagement band looked on my left hand. It looked so darn official!
Good idea on a heftier setting. I notice that i knock mine around quite a bit, and i'm quite thankful i didn't get anything too lightweight or i probably would have hurt it by now. You definitely want to feel like your stones are in there safely. Sounds like you have a wonderful jeweler tho!
@ejs4y8 That's just it, I know how clumsy I am, so my ring needs to be built to last!
@bellenga I'm with you on the sleeping. Did that last night and it helped some :D. I think walking the dog can go on my list too.

Hi hive! I have some good ring news! There was some drama today, but I think we'll be good to go now.
So.. FH and I had a date on Tuesday to finally put the money down on my ring. He's been saving for a few months, and due to his unusual schedule, it was easiest for me to take a half day on Tuesday and meet him at our jeweler.
I knew what setting I wanted, so we looked at a few stones and I found a perfect, super sparkly little gem that I want to make my own.
We paid and they got to work ordering the setting. Yay!
Or at least, yay until this afternoon. I got out of a meeting around 4pm and had a voice mail from FH waiting for me at my desk. It turns out the jeweler called and something was wrong? Needless to say, I'm freaking out. I go to our coat closet (my own personal phone booth lol) and call FH. He wasn't quite sure what the problem was, but the woman we were working with wasn't comfortable with the setting. They were open until 6, so we both made it there around 5:30.
It turns out that the ring itself was extremely light weight, and the prongs weren't great quality. We didn't say it to them there, but the ring felt like something you'd get from one of those machines in the grocery store lobby for a quarter! I'm sure I'd damage it in no time. Our lady had gone through some more catalogs and found a few alternatives for us. I picked one that looks almost the same, but weighs twice as much. Thankfully, they didn't charge us any extra for it!
Since I did now have a setting in the style I wanted, in my size, I tried it on to see how it fit. She set the stone in the setting so I'd have a better idea how the complete package will look on me... and OHMYGODITWASAMAZING.
I can't wait for the new ring to get here and get finished, and I just had to share!! How is everyone else dealing with the waiting? Now that I've seen it on my hand, I feel like I'm going a little nutty, haha.
