@ EVERYONE: Thank you so much, for the well wishes & the prayers. We greatly appreciate them all. Happily got snail confirmation that I'm also outwardly healthy (clean & normal pap smear) & no news from the bloodtests, which usually means good news. Will keep everyone updated as the pregnancy progresses...next visit: September 8th!

So we got home from the honeymoon on Tuesday, had our first prenatal appointment with a new OB/GYN on Wednesday & got the doc's stamp of approval: we're pregnant! So, from our 1st ultrasound, we learned that we're about 8 weeks (7 weeks, 5 days at the time of the ultrasound 4 days ago), that our kid has a heartbeat (we saw the little bright moving spot going at about million beats a minute!), and that, according to our doctor, once there's a heartbeat we have less than 5% chance of miscarriage. While we're not "out of the woods" (as none of us are until the kids are born) yet, Mr. & I are feeling very happy & excited that we've got a living being going on in there. We've already informed the grandparents-to-be, as well as many friends...we figure that if anything does go wrong, we'll have a very supportive group there for us & as long as things are going well, we've got a wonderfully excited pep squad rooting for us.
Additionally, for those of you who have followed my whole fibroids situation (I've got two, about 5 cm big that my prior GYN wanted to operate on), this OB/GYN seems much more optimistic about us being able to go to term with these fibroids. From the ultrasound, it looks like the fibroids have not grown (good sign) and one may be "disintergrating" due to the lack of blood/nutrients being fed to it (all that going to the baby instead - another good sign). We've got another prenatal appointment & more detailed ultrasound in 4 weeks, so I'll keep all you 'bees posted. Here's hoping everything keeps going well!
