@MrsBee2B:  I am quite keen to do our own vows.  I have a favourite song and when I was driving down to see my Fiance one evening I thought how brilliant it would be to use the words of the song as they were so meaningful.  I then watched Gavin & Stacey a while later where ‘Dawn’ does a vow renewal and it was just so comical I think I have had to go off that idea!

We are writing our own vows too. My Fiance likes corny, so i may keep it super sugary 🙂

I started putting mine together a few weeks ago – i’v still got 5 months so this is a very very rough draft and they’re WAY too long so i’m going to have to cut some out, but this is what i’ve got so far.I will admit i have consulted our good friend google for some inpsiration and ideas.. the grumpy old man/little old lady line is totally plagerised but i just love it!!

Who would have thought all those years ago we would end up here. So many circumstances have led us to this moment that it has to be fate and there is no doubt in my mind you are my soul mate and my one true love.

From the first time you made me cheesey noodles I knew it was love. You’ve made me try things I never would have tried and you have helped to open my mind to new things. I am a better person because of this and because of you.

You are my match in every way. You balance me, you challenge me, and you encourage me.

I love you because you’ve taught me to appreciate the little things in life and to not take life so seriously.

I love you because you are the best dad to Oscar and Chorizo and are going to be an even better dad to our kids.

I love you because you make me laugh when I want it the least, but need it the most.

I love you because I can’t imagine my life without you in it

As your wife, I promise to create with you a home that celebrates laughter, good food, and adventures.

I promise to cherish you and support you in everything you do.

I promise to always be the best person I can be

I promise to give you a night off from cooking every now and then – even though we both know there’s a reason why you do the cooking and I do the dishes.

I promise to try not to steal all the blankets. And to play paper scissors rock with you when we can’t agree, I promise to sometimes do best of 3 when I’m the winner.

I promise I will treat you with nothing but respect, kindness, and appreciation no matter the circumstance. I will be your loving partner for every waking hour and every moment asleep, no matter how close or how far apart we may ever be.

I look forward to holding your grumpy old man hand in my little old lady hand. Together with you, I want to live a life full of the kind of love and laughter that makes strangers stop and stare….but hopefully not point at us.

Here are the vows that I wrote for my wedding:

(Groom), when I first met you, I never imagined that I would be standing here today, getting ready to become your wife. I thought of you as “that creepy LP guy.” However, once we talked, I realized you weren’t so creepy after all. The more we talked, and the more I got to know you, the more I started to like you. Throughout the last two years that I’ve known you, my feelings for you have changed from wanting nothing to do with you, to liking you as a friend, to loving you. The past two years haven’t been easy, and our relationship has definitely been tested, but we’ve always stronger and closer because of it. The only explanation there can be for that is God has called us to be together.

(Groom), it is with a heart full of love and devotion that I come to you today. Being led by God, I rejoice in the opportunity to be your wife, accepting you as you are, and receiving you as God’s precious gift to me. I will live first unto God, and then unto you, loving you, obeying you, caring for you, and ever seeking to please you. I will stand with you through every circumstance that comes our way, through adversity and trials, and through the joyful and triumphant times. I will tend to you in sickness, and rejoice with you in health. I will celebrate your strengths and encourage you in your weaknesses, always striving to see the best in you, and placing your needs before my own. I will support you in our ministry together as we seek to know God more intimately and to make Him known to the ends of the earth.

I will love, honor, and respect you for as long as we both shall live, for forever and a day. Where you go, I will go, where you lodge, I will lodge, your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Before God, who made this union possible, and our loved ones gathered this day, I make this vow to you.
