I’m just a bit curious. 😛
I totally wasn’t. When I was about 7, I realized that it was probably “normal” to have a “dream wedding” in mind, so I decided that I would make one up… but the “obsession” barely lasted a week, haha. I just lost interest and went back to doing other odd kid things. (I’m not going to get into what I ACTUALLY liked obsessing about, lol.)
Anyway, now that I’m older and actually in a place in my life where I can visualize getting married sometime in the perceivable future, I find that I’ve been “dreaming” a bit, I guess. And just like when I was younger, I feel a bit silly about it! Mostly because I’m not even engaged yet (and probably won’t be for at least another year [young bee here that wants to take her time]). But I figure, hey, after three years in a good, solid relationship, it’s ok to dream a bit!
So, were you the type of child that had your wedding all figured out before you even knew what marriage really meant? How is the reality stacking up to the fantasy?
Other general comments and conversation are welcome as well! I’m just looking to make a fun little post. 🙂

I barely thought about marriage, other than to laugh at myself when I did something embarrassing and say a prayer out loud for my poor, future husband, wherever he may be. haha I was totally in the dark about weddings, the first real wedding I attended start to finish was at age 18. As a kid, they always seemed too fancy. I lumped them in with princesses and castles, and I was a tomboy, so that category wasn’t too prominent in my mind 😉
All I knew was that I loved the drama of the not-seeing-each-other til the altar thing, and I’m trying desperately to make my one “childhood dream” work!

Not at all. I had a brief phase of being interested in weddings when my first college friend got married, but after that, I was too busy with my career to be fixated on weddings.

I really wasn’t. I knew I always wanted to get married someday but never actually knew what theme, colors, dress, all that I wanted. I never had the “fairy tale” mind set either, and my wedding isn’t princess-y at all. I had no idea what kind of dream wedding I wanted until I actually started planning mine.

Definitely! I mean, not like, down to every last detail, but I’ve always enjoyed daydreaming about my wedding, future home, future kids, etc.
For a while I wanted to elope to Fiji!
Also, I always imagined I would use shell pink for my bridesmaids’ dresses–I’m not having BMs in my real wedding, but I am wearing a beautiful shell pink cardigan, so I feel like that part of my dream has been met, lol.
I also always thought I would wear a one-shoulder evening gown style dress, but that definitely did NOT happen, lol.
