were you the same size on your wedding as you were when you tried on your dress?

Yah, I really don’t change size much.

No, I’m down a size. I always knew that would be the case though because although I had lost most of the weight I wanted to by the time I went dress shopping I wasn’t totally finished. I wouldn’t have wanted to dress shop at the start of my weight loss though – would have been too hard to gauge what would have looked good on me 3-4 dress sizes bigger than I am now.  Seamstress hasn’t had a problem taking the dress in so far though.

despite the fact that we only have a five month engagement and we are only a couple of months into it, I’ve already done this. I knew I was going to lose a lot of weight bcause of th fact that I would be wearing a bikini. I went in planning to add a corset back to whichever dress I bought to add more flexibility to weight gain/loss. I bought the dress a size small, which is the size they said to order based on the corset back (so I essentially ordered the size I was at the time). It now fits and will probably need to be taken in.  Alterations can take down quite a bit, but it’s hard to go up, so I would order the size you are and have it takn in if you need to. Or, if you think you’ll gain weight, maybe order a size big? I would say, 1) alterations can do a lot, especially down, 2) corsets can add flexibility if you are worried about last minute changes.

gromble:  I was inbetween sizes when I tried on the sample, so I went with the lower size knowing I weighed a few pounds more than I had the previous year. I ended up losing more weight just through the craziness of wedding planning and my actual dress had to be taken in about 1-2 more sizes.

I was inbetween size and my mom suggested I go bigger because I had a corset back (huge mistake) lost the weight, and ordered my reception dress in the smaller size, and it was perfect

I was basically the same size, though I probably lost about 7 pounds from when I ordered the dress to when I went for alterations.

No I lost weight and ordered a size down. I would not recommend that. I wish they wouldn’t tell you the size, just measure and order because its too much pressure during an already stressful time. I was unrealistic, my dress fit tightly in the chest and I really had to exercise to have it fit me.
