David's Bridal is a great place to start. Even if you don't buy from there, they have lots of different styles in plus size to try on. So you can get an idea of how the cuts look on you.
If northern NJ is not too far for you.. I went to the Bridal Store at Liz Clinton in Andover, NJ (www.myweddingatlizclintons.com). They were very accomodating had quite a few dresses for me to try on as a plus size bride. They carry 3 lines (including Anjolique and Watters) and a private label.

Any suggestions for a bridal salon that has plus-size sample dresses?
