My birthday is June 22nd and we got married June 9th this year. While I didn’t get a present from my DH this year it wont effect the years to come. (To be fair we got home from our honeymoon the day of my birthday)

My wedding is three days after my birthday. It wasn’t my first choice because I like to spread out the holidays a little, but I think it’s okay and so far I’m not bothered by it. Maybe I’ll get to eat even more cake, if that’s even possible.

My sister got married two weeks after her birthday and every year it irked her because she’d get a combo birthday/anniversary gift.

My first marriage was the day before my bday. Often I would get anniversary cards and no birthday card or vice versa. It also meant I would always get one gift for BOTh my anniversary and bday. It sucked!

Our dating inniversay is a week after my birthday and I HATE IT! I can’t wait to move our anniversary. It always seems like I am sacrificing one for the other.

    Think about it.

I only think this would be a problem if you like to have huge birthday celebrations and want huge anniversary celebrations that are separate. So like if you want to go to Hawaii for your birthday and go to Italy for your anniversary every year. I kind of doubt this is the case. 🙂 Just go for it — it’s hard enough to find a date that works!

I don’t think it’s a big deal. I wanted a date close to my bday but FI was adamant about it! So, we went with a month before.  March was the only month we didn’t have SOMETHING to celebrate, so he wanted it then so we’d have every  month covered with some sort of celebration!

@coffeeeeee:  Well it seems like it’s something that would really work for you.

I am not a materialistic person so it isn’t so much about the gift to me as the amount of attention given to the day.

Whateva. hopefully next year’s anniversary will be the last time we celebrate it.

I hope your wedding and the date and your birthday is everything you’ve ever dreamed.

My birthday was the day before our wedding so at the rehearsal dinner we had a bday/rehearsal cake and that was really fun. I’m not a big bday person so I think we’re in the same boat there. We’re about to celebrate our 2-year anniversary and my 31st bday in a few weeks and I’m really excited about it. I say go for it!

We’re seriously considering the day before my birthday, & it doesn’t bother me. It works for everyone, and that’s what I wanted.
