So, yesterday I took a pregancy test and it was postive. My husband and I are shocked, terrified, and excited all at the same time. I called an OBGYN office that was recommended to me by a friend who is delivery nurse. They can’t get me in till Nov. 28th. Is it normal to wait that long to have your first appt? Is there anything else I should be doing in the mean time besides taking prenatal vitamins?

That’s normal. There’s not much they can do except confirm a HPT until about 8-10 weeks anyway. Just take your vitamins and enjoy your pregnancy. Congrats!

Congratulations! I have heard that is normal for people who aren’t already patients of that particular practice. I saw the doctor at 4 weeks but honestly they didn’t do anything that would have had an effect on my pregnancy. They took my vitals so they could mark in their charts and then just confirmed pregnancy. As 6 weeks I had my first ultrasound, but I know a lot of women don’t have them until 8-10 weeks.

Okay thanks. I’m 34 and we weren’t planing on trying right away so this was unplanned but we are still excited. Part of me was even worried I would have a hard time conceiving because of my age so we consider ourselves Blessed!

That sounds normal to me. From my understanding, most people don’t have their first appointment until 8-10 weeks.

@KatieLu: Congratulations date twin! How very exciting for you two. Enjoy your pregnancy! 🙂

@KatieLu: I conceived 5 months into our marriage! Congrats!!
They probably scheduled you so soon in the future so that the baby can be seen on the ultrasound. Just tolet you know if you are early you MIGHT have to do a transvaginal one!!
When I went to my first appointment I was 7 weeks but Baby Boy Sailor was measuring only 5 weeks. We could barely see him on the screen.
Take prenatals, google what foods to avoid now that you are preggo, drink your milk, water, and orange juice, and relax! Don’t lift heavy objects and sleep!!

Congrats!! I was lucky and my doctor saw me at 4.5 weeks but I know a lot of doctors will not see patients until 8-10 weeks or so.
