so yesterday on CD 8 I got a very positive opk. I thought that was super early considering last month I got positive opk on cd15. So I googled which I shouldn’t have done and found that an opk can be positive if you’re pregnant. I took both an opk and hpt this morning after getting off work and a couple hour hold. Both came up within the time frame and weren’t touching while waiting to be read.
I don’t know what this means??? I had what seemed to be a normal period with cramps and everything. I’m so confused and worried it could be something like an MC or ectopic. Has anyone else had experience with this or insight???

nursebee22 : yes I’ve had this exact situation before. Didn’t take a test one month. Had what I thought was a period 10 days later took an OpK and it was positive way way too early for me. Took a Hpt and it was also positive. It’s was crazy and I was in shock! Some people just have spotting and bleeding. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in MC but I’m pregnant again and have had bleeding off and on in this pregnancy and I’m currently 30 weeks so it’s not always a bad thing.

nursebee22 : I don’t have personal experience with this but a friend of mine got what she thought were normal periods during pregnancy and didn’t know she was pregnant for four months! Everyone’s body is different I guess. Let us know how it turns out. I’m also currently in a whaaat is happening situation as I got a normal period and then it ended for a little less than a week and then I started spotting and a couple of days were really heavy like I had my period again and then I’ve continued to spot ever since. It’s been almost two weeks. So annoying. I don’t use OPK and this is only my third month off the pill so I think it’s related to that but I still might make an appointment with the doctor for next week since this seems like a realllly long time to spot. In other news, my boobs are really sore and have gotten bigger, which is also bizarre. Aargh. Baby dust to you!!

Definitely looks like a bfp. Have you tried another test like FRER just to be sure?

Take a FRER! This is looking very promising, bee!
I have a friend who thought she had her period… but it turns out it wasn’t! She ended up getting her BFP on the next cycle but when she had her ultrasound, she was 4 weeks further along than she thought.

Yes, this is exactly what happened to me! The first doctor I saw said it’s not that uncommon, I was incredibly confused and couldn’t quite believe it. My baby girl is turning one next week!
Best of luck Nursebee! x

Uhm… I’m in shock! Trying to be cautiously optimistic about it though since I did have the bleeding. I’ve never been pregnant before and we just started ttc in April. Guess I’ll give my OB a call during the week.

I had a similar situation happen with period bleeding, but much lighter than normal. So I decided to test. It was a positive.
**TW** sadly it ended in a chemical pregnancy**TW**
I hope all js well for you, but because you had bleeding, I would suggest getting a blood test to check hcg levels are doubling.

annonbee857 : yeah I’m not going to get my hopes up about it. Especially since the bleeding I had wasn’t lighter than a normal period it was a bit heavier. Although I had only had one period before that off mirena that was super light

nursebee22 : I think’s it definitely more encouraging that you are at least 2-3 weeks along though. Have you had any bleeding or spotting since your period?
My tests were super faint and never got dark. Yours are definitely clear positives and further out from your period. I think that’s a good sign!
FX that all is well.

I had a significant bleed when I was about 5 weeks pregnant with my daughter. Turned out to be no big deal. If I didn’t already know I was pregnant, I might have thought it was my period. Anyway, I would go have your doctors do bloodwork to see if your numbers are increasing at the proper rate. There is a very good possibility that this is a viable pregnancy. Crossing my fingers for you!

How much bleeding did you have? I know you considered it a period but was it as heavy as it normally would be or did you just see some blood and assume it was your period?
I would call to make an appointment and let them know that while you get they don’t normally see patients until at least 8 weeks you’ve had some bleeding and see if they could get you in earlier.
I’m probably way too cautious about stuff like that, having my first pregnancy end as Ectopic at 6 weeks. I hadn’t even had an appointment yet but started having heavy period like bleeding (way more than what I would consider normal for a pregnancy) and it was confirmed ectopic.
If you were just having some spotting or lite bleeding you are likely fine – but I know personally I’d feel better getting checked out! Fingers crossed & congrats!
