I cringed when I read that today. I just don’t understand how someone can do that! I personally would have liked the food basket, but even if I got a gift that I didn’t like I would never ever say anything to that person. I would write a heart felt thank you note and move on!

While it didn’t warrant a response other than “thank you, and I’m so happy that you shared our special day” you gotta admit that was a tacky gift. Cute? Yes. Thoughtful? Yes. But not wedding appropriate. As I said before though, that bride should have just said thank you and left it at that.

@Aquaria:  Yeah, no, cute and thoughtful generally meets the bar for my standards in a wedding gift. We can agree to disagree, though.

i cant beleive how ridiculously rude that bride was!! you dont invite people to your wedding to make sure they give you the monetry value of their attendance back!!! you dont even invite them to get a present – you invite them for their company on your big day!!

i personally think its tacky telling your guests how much it was to pay for their food and hire the venue. its not a competition for how much you can spend – there is no reason for the guests to know the price of anything!!
